  1. I agree, the only way to get any change is for the team to keep losing. Hate to say it. Lee will only make them better and so will prior and wood, even if they aren't at their best. This is a .500 team, once healthy, which is good enough for a Dusty extension...gawd, why did my father have to make me a cubs fan?
  2. Fat or skinny, does anyone really care how you do it, as long as you get on base? The steals are overrated, and I know you guys will probably chastise me, but Rob Neyer has said it for years, that the steal is an overrated statistic. Getting on base, no matter HOW you do it, is what matters...but I'm preaching to the choir here.
  3. I can't wait for those weak throws from 2nd base, what with his arm being so strong and all.
  4. sounds like she digs you, ask her out on a date. maybe she'll take pity on your love for the Cubs and make you feel "better"
  5. The only thing I wonder, what are they going to do next? I can't wait to see what [expletive] roster decision they make next, what with this Womack business.
  6. the only thing dumber than Dusty Baker is the people like us who keep watching this pathetic team. If the stands were empty, changes would be made, therefore, nothing will change. I'd give my left somethinerother to see Neifi's bags packed...along with Glendon and anyone else who swings at the first pitch.
  7. Dudes, these guys have had so many bad teams and so many of them recently (last 25 years), that it's impossible to narrow this down. Though the 97 team was pretty horrid, I agree that they were more fun to watch. This franchise just sucks and will always suck. But I still love them, it's like a Fatal Attraction and the Cubs are played by Glenn Close.
  8. Damn it! How could I forget? These players in our new lineup HAVE to lose flyballs in the sun, get picked off ANY base, BUNT in the ninth inning while BEHIND! And, ummmm, complain about the announcers in the booth... And you guys don't think that Steve Stone and Bob Brenly could help this team. 'course, Saddam Hussein could coach a better team than this.
  9. Here's my lineup: Neifi Freddy Jose Macias (we HAVE to resign him) Womack Mabry (can't forget him) Blanco 'course, the rotation could sport Glendon, Rich Hill, Jerome Williams, and Angel Guzman. And the other two position players would have to be non OBP players, who don't take walks, who are over the hill who SUCK, have always sucked, and WILL always suck. I've had enough of this. At least I could divorce my ex wife to get rid of her. I can't get away from these guys, maybe an excorcism would work. Are there any priests on here?
  10. I think we should trade D Lee for Todd Pratt and install Niefi at first, with a new 5 year 75 million contract. What the hell difference would it make?
  11. Nahh, they're headed for the Series, man...I feel great about this team.
  12. MacPhail never says anything in public. Something's up...and I think we will NOT hear the company line hear. And if I'm right, I want to be hailed a hero on NSBB! I don't know that anyone will get fired...however, that said, he wouldn't be coming on if he didn't have something to say. Think positive!!!! (if there is anything positive about this)
  13. We should all become Sox fans. Stop spending money and going to see this sad team. I give anything to see 2000 people show up for the braves game
  14. This is all so accurate. And so funny. I just laugh anymore at these guys, otherwise I'd cry. I'm waiting for Dusty's "maybe a day off will do us some good" comment.
  15. There are lots of decent catchers who can hit their weight at least, keeping him for defense just plays into this team's philosophy.
  16. Players that don't play are of little value, not just prior. Mark P. is the Jim McMahon of the cubs, every little friggin ache and pain gets him down for a month or more. We should rid ourselves of these players and find players who play. The Cubs are so broken they won't be fixed for years. I don't know how I deluded myself into thinking they might actually be competitive this year. Misplaced Cubs hope I suppose. We should all have our heads examined for this, and a new disease should be invented so that we can claim disability. Can someone please tell me why they keep all these horrid pitchers and don't bring guys up from the minors that might get the ball over the plate? And why they hang on to players that can't play, when Buck Coats and Felix Pie are rotting in Des Moines?
  17. Since when did the sacrifice bunt and the hit and run become something bad? Yeah, when overdone its a bad thing, but if you are a run ahead with your ace on the mound (and assuming the Cubs have a BARISP greater than .125, which they don't), then a sacrifice in the right situation isn't a bad thing. Dusty's use of it is laughable, that much I give you. And remember, Dusty relied on the Earl Weaver three run homer method in the past, and that didn't work either. This team would do better under a better manager, but would still suck because half the team sucks. I can name maybe six or eight players to keep...and ship out the rest.
  18. Oh, man. I'm so glad somebody finally made this thread. My 97 year old grandmother can hit better than Blanco, and guess what, good defensives catchers are a dime a dozen, we probably have two or three in our own system. This is the problem with this team, we waste a roster spot on a guy who can't be counted on to pinch hit when he can...he's there to spell Barrett, and that's it? Geez, this team sucks and he's just another reason, just like Neifi, Glendon, Juan, and Bynum. What a joke, this team will lose a 100 games, mark my words.
  19. I knew this might spark a debate. If you look beyond the fact that nobody on the CUBS like Stoney, then maybe you could see that the man knows a lot more about baseball than Jim Hendry ever will. And Brenly did take a team to the world series for a win. It might not be your favorite alternative, but I for one listen to Stoney whenever I can and the man knows something about the game and understands the importance of the walk and the OBP. So does Brenly. It won't happen, I'm not kidding myself, but to say that either one of these men are idiots is simply a stupid comment to make.
  20. And Bob Brenly for field manager. Listening to Brenly talk about how these guys swing at the first pitch, and how Stoney would construct a team, I think we couldn't do any worse, and maybe we'd do better. Whaddyathink?
  21. He isn't part of the problem. Now I feel guilty for making it sound like I don't like the guy. I think my aggression towards the Cubs mental retardation on the part of management has caused me to insult the only guy in the outfield that is doing his job. Matt, can you ever forgive me?
  22. Wrigley is way bigger than the Cubs, how else do you explain why they fill it every day? The team is a train wreck, so that has to be why.
  23. I know, his OBP of .371 and ba of .326 is way too high for a Baker managed team. But the guy is young and appears he can hit. It's too bad we can't bounce Pierre and put this guy in the lineup along with Pie...who, by the way, isn't playing too bad either.
  24. Poor Beer Man. Maybe he hasn't endured enough Cubs sillyness over the years yet. I think I'm going to become a psychiatrist and specialize in Cubs related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This team is so bad they make the Marlins and the Rays look like world series contenders. The excuses for losing and the pooh pooh attitude on the part of the great Clown Baker and his pathetic lack of fundamental play makes me want to barf. This team is a train wreck and why the hell they don't just start getting rid of all the badness is something I can't understand. Neifi, Freddy, that pathetic hitting catcher Blanco (great defensively I know...but who cares?)...and anyone else who can't take a walk or have an OBP above his weight ought to go. At least Eric Patterson at AA and Brandon Sing at AAA would play hard and for a day or two at least think it's cool to play MLB. Uggh. I can't stand it anymore!!!!
  25. I'm not knocking the guy, I'm just saying that I don't think he has the power numbers, but he's clearly one of the better guys we have right now. Maybe I was a little harsh. And with ABs comes power, so I digress and will not attempt to knock a guy that at least will take a walk once in a while
