  1. WTF??? PINCH HIT FOR LILLY Lou! He clearly has nothing today
  2. Hehe...the YANKees are pulling WANG :fingerfight:
  3. Agreed, but get someone ready in the pen in case someone reaches.
  4. Come on Lilly. Cubs need this W and the elements are on your side. This team is terrible and you're letting them right back in it.
  5. Brewers are up 1 to the dbacks in the 4th. Guy yard dough is pitching very well.
  6. His breaking pitches are flat and guys are sitting on the fastball. A good hitting team would have three or four runs by now. Lilly better figure it out or he's going to get crushed today.
  7. Love the fact they thay batted around in the first
  8. There have been numerous examples of how Hendry's excessive contracts for mediocre-to-crap bench players and flash in the pan relievers have the cost the Cubs opportunities to sign more expensive free agents. Here's yet another example of financial mismanagement. While I'm pleased that Izturis is gone, he should never have donned a Cubs uniform. Maddux to LA should have been a fine deal -- if only it had brought us a decent prospect in return. qft
  9. *grumbles*Cost me 5 fantasy points for the quality start*grumbles*
  10. walks kill ya It's about time they started killing the opponent for a change.
  11. I give him credit for getting Carpenter, Rolen and Renteria. He was also at the helm when they found Pujols although scouting had a lot to do with that. Like it or not, the Cardinals have been a very good team for the past several years or so. There have been down years sure, but the team has been good. He also knew when to dump Morris and Williams. For me though, the bottom line is that there aren't too many "good" GM's out there. I don't get the fascination with Beane. I read MoneyBall and yes, Beane has put together some decent teams with a very low payroll. A great deal of that is scouting. He's made his mistakes and he's his successes and I think that Moneyball was a very interesting read. I don't think he's as great as the book made him out to be.
  12. Bayless is a fascinating case study. It's clearly evident that with such a saturation of talking heads in sports today, the only way to separate yourself from the crowd is to come up with some unique and edgy schtick. Jim Rome, Stephen A Smith, etc etc all got where they are because of style, not substance. For whatever reason, Bayless has adopted "loud mouth babbling bafoon idiot moron" as his personal schtick. And amazingly enough, it's kinda working for him, considering that, as you note, he's still got a job. I think you are exactly right. QFT
  13. They're going to wind up taking away the beer, and then will people ever be sorry. Alright I'll say it, maybe that would be a good thing. 8-[
  14. I don't remember any of these stories. Pictures?
  15. I honestly don't understand what compels people to do this. It's not one or two people, it's 20+ and it's not once or twice every fifth year. It happens two or three times every year. Part of me almost understands when your bullpen blows a 6 run lead in the top of the 9th. But after Ramirez drives in the winning run, on national television, when the team is playing it's best baseball......that I can remember EVER? Where is the logic in that? Pathetic
  16. Seconded and thirded and fourth'd
