  1. According to GameCenter, Castro saw one hittable pitch. Is anyone watching? If that is true I point to my earlier post saying they'll either IBB or pitch around him. Gutless brewers.
  2. Isn't this the last home game in a meaningless season?
  3. Nice job LeHair. Unless Garza or PH GIDP's Castro should get one more AB.
  4. It's the last week in a meaningless season. Baker's only the #4 hitter because of all the call-ups playing today, so why not bring in DeWitt for an AB or two? I am apparently the only person that sees humor in that switch. I'll leave it alone.
  5. Looks like we need someone to get on in the bottom of the 8th for Castro to get one more plate appearance. If that happens I expect to see the Brewers IBB or pitch around him.
  6. HAH! Quade pinch hit for his #4 hitter with runners in scoring position - brought in DeWitt to pinch hit for Baker against a righty. He promptly hit into a DP. Unless Baker is hurt this was a terrible move. You won't be missed Quade.
  7. Lame-ass Brewers pitched around Castro with a runner on second.
  8. Castro followed up a great rookie year with another nice performance. Garza. We're one season closer to being done with Soriano. Samardzija had a pretty good season.
  9. Castro followed up a great rookie year with another nice performance. Agreed, he has been very good but he's just one player. This team will need several more good players to be competitive in 2012. With the new GM and apparent scouting changes this will be an interesting offseason. If Randy Bush or the guy from the WSox get the job I'm done.
  10. What makes me sad is seeing the record and watching all the losses. It will be good to not have to see so many losses for a while. ...and the ridiculous lineups ...and the dugout tantrums ...and Coleman pitching ...and Lopez pitching ...and another blown save ..and Hill getting more starts This season has sucked on many levels. The only good that I see is Hendry and at least some of his cronies finally being shown the door. Last season was frustrating for me but this season has somehow been much worse. I need time away from Cubs baseball. Yet....here I am following the game online and posting to NSBB game thread. Someone please shoot me.
  11. Castro has two hits on the day to bring his total to 199
  12. Another Castro error leads to an unearned run for Garza.
  13. Yet Quade thinks he'll be back next year as manager of the Cubs. I can't believe Ricketts hasn't ordered Bush to tell Quade that young players play everyday regardless of the position of the opposition and what hand their starting pitcher throws with. I'd like to see Clevenger catch more than one game too. Agreed. Colvin sits, Clevenger, Dolis won't get a shot, all while Hill, Johnson and others continue to play in a hollow attempt to win some games to save his job. This season and the Quade experiment can't end fast enough for me.
  14. Leadoff double for Castro brings his hit total to 198. It looks like he was thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple though.
  15. Agreed. I saw a total of 6 games this year. Some of that is due to a bad work schedule and late projects, but honestly I really didn't want to watch another crappy team take the field.
  16. Johnson and Baker are the 3/4 hitters. ugh
  17. 12 interleague games in a row to start June including 3 each with the RSox and Tigers.
  18. Per Bruce: http://dailyherald.com/sports/pro/cubs/
  19. Szczur has faded badly in the second half this season. My guess is they want to give him a break after his first full season. I'd look for him to go next year assuming he performs well at Daytona/Tenn in 2012.
  20. According to BA, Marcus Hatley is there as well http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/winter-baseball/arizona-fall-league/2011/2612261.html
  21. So is the general feeling that the 2012 draft crop is average, below average, above average?
  22. maples didn't even pitch in arizona, why would they have him pitch in boise? Agreed on Maples but why no VogelBOMB? (yeah I said it)
  23. Ellsbury, Rasmus and Garza were selected after Pawelek in the first round that year. Buckholz, Lowrie and Hochevar(did not sign) were selected in the second.
