  1. Doesn't this also me that the Cubs won't give up any picks if they sign a type-A free agent?
  2. If Wilken goes for another high-risk / high-ceiling type guy, I'm gonna have a fit. The Montanez, Christiensen and Brownlie picks makes me ill.
  3. Now that the regular season is over, I can't wait for the playoffs to be over to put closure to baseball 2006. This season was brutal, but not as bad as 2005 for me. At least the wsox and stros didn't make the playoffs and I'm guaranteed that the wsox won't win the world series this year. Nothing was as bad as 2005 for me, but 2006 comes a pretty close second. Maybe that's a trend, maybe I'm grasping at straws. I don't care anymore. I'm burned out on baseball.
  4. How much did Dempster's season adversely affect the numbers? Also, there were some awful performances by Walrond, Ryu and Mateo in there as well. I'm not really disagreeing with you but the 2005 bullpen needed a makeover.
  5. 1-0 on an Atkins single that drove on Fogg who got on base with a BB
  6. Larry Dierker, plz. Curious, why? I haven't read his book Find the thread that I posted back in July or August. He has some great philosphies. Not too old school, but since he was a player he has more credibility than others who might try a more stats based way of making decisions. Furthermore, I like any manager who knows how to use a run expectancy chart to assist decisions. Ah...here it is! Thanks Pitcher usage is a little scary but when you couple that with the idea of the pitcher being "effective" it makes a lot of sense. OBP and slugging? Hendry won't hire him because he doesn't understand all these "acronyms".
  7. 4 k's for Z thus far. Tough middle of the lineup
  8. Larry Dierker, plz. Curious, why? I haven't read his book
  9. Larry Dierker, plz. meh....I'm so burned out on Dusty and his BS. Girardi is my target and I don't know much about the guy from Atl (Gonzalez?).
  10. The early offseason should be interesting with the manager search anyhow.
  11. wow...I didn't realize Atkins had such a great year .400obp .330 avg .550 slg 28 hr 118 rbi's
  12. Agreed, then start the cycle all over again.
  13. The Riot grounded into a DP Ramirez followed with a single and Jones flew out to left to end it.
  14. I love the game and while I don't necessary feel sad the the Cubs season is over, I know I will once the world series is done. It's been a bad year since May so my favorite team hasn't really been a part of the season, but the season goes on. The pennant chase in both of the central divisions is fantastic this year.
  15. I'm starting to agree. As much as I hate to admit it, I think I'd rather see St. Louis in the playoffs than Houston. I agree. I'm sick of Clemens and his "I'm better than baseball attitude". The sooner he retires the better IMO. Good riddance.
  16. I don't know how many cars the remote lot at DeVry holds, but it's a lot. I use the lot off Addison every time I come in from the burbs and I've never had any trouble. Be sure to give yourself some time because the shuttle, while free, still has to deal with the traffic along addison before the game. The remote lots are by far the best option for people driving in from the suburbs.
  17. It's fantastic I haven't always been this way. I said for a long time that the CITY deserved a world series championship. That was true but based on how sox fans reacted I can say with certainty, THEY didn't deserve it.
  18. Hell yeah I'll admit it. I'M GLAD THE TRAILOR TRASH DIDN'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. I took so much crap from sox fans after they bragged constantly when they won the series. The sox fans that I know have the least class of any other group I know. Ozzie in a loud-mouth punk and they got extremely lucky in 2005. The fact that they were eliminated makes a pretty terrible baseball season seem just a little better to me.
  19. Bitterness is simply the output of dissapointed fans who actually care about their team. Or that they ran out of Old Style. Well..color me irritated What gives you the right to sit in judgment of Wrigley or its fans?
  20. By the way, what is this ---> :elephant: Should it be pink? Nevermind Now back to your regularly scheduled.............um..........hoedown :fingerfight:
