    Preaching to the choir here, but this needs to happen. Next to winning it all, his induction ceremony is about as special a thing as I can imagine in baseball.

    That certainly doesn't make it seem like any deal is imminent. I don't see any reason for the Cubs to abandon their process and select a winner while the season is going on. Yeah...that doesn't make it sound at all like something was going to be finalized within 24 hours.

    Rozner doesn't like the non-english speakers. Okay, so apparently Tallon doesn't care about, uh, scoring goals. I get that we don't want one-dimensional forwards, but we have a pretty solid defensive group. As for the little Czech mob in the locker room, interesting insight, and definitely the first I've read of those three guys being a "problem." If you want to call it that.

But if (when) Havlat goes down I fear the team could be offensively challenged again. Which is why it makes no sense to have nearly a quarter of your cap used up by effing goaltenders. But Tallon is still going to shop Khabi and ship him off when the first contender's goalie gets hurt, right?

    I usually don't put much stock in these types of efforts, but I sent them a nice e-mail asking them to air the game nationally.

    Just keep the train moving, Demp. I agree that CC will be under an enormous amount of pressure tonight. And after the way the team has bounced back and the crazy Howry that happened in Milwaukee, I expect the crowd to be in full playoff mode tonight.

    Gotta make sure HFA doesn't slip away too. Sort of obvious, but can't let up until that is settled.

    As I mentioned in the game thread, I'm shocked this didn't wait until the end of the season. But I guess the GM/owner (correctly) calculated that leaving him in there might blow their chance, and they are not going to have this team and this chance next year.

    I never expected it (the dominance) to last very long. Why would he struggle through the minors (though he started finding his way in Iowa) and suddenly be lights out in the majors? I'm glad he's having a nice run and he's got some nasty movement on his pitches, but Kevin Hart was unhittable last year, too. It's gonna take me a bit longer to be sold on him as a MLB pitcher. Either way, it's good experience for him.

    I can't seem to get the nerves to come back down now. It's just transferred over to worrying about the game. But I think I'm pretty much going to be this way for the rest of the season now. EDIT: Dirty pitch there. Great job Lilly.
