    Tomorrow afternoon is fine with me. Friday afternoon (or Saturday) would make for one hell of a party in Wrigleyville. If I got to choose and all things were equal, I'd prefer Saturday afternoon, so I don't have to sit here and celebrate in my office. I just want it to be at home. I love watching the celebration on tv, all the reporters down there. I just watch it and smile for hours on end.

    When I heard the booing, I took it like the fans were having fun. Like, "Let's boo them at their home game." I didn't take it as mean at all, though I can understand how it could have been misconstrued. Either way, like I said before, this writer is a hack.

    Thanks Bruce. Stats sort of highlight the obvious. These days, Shark is shaky and Fuku is near worthless.

    I'm not so sure. Just making the playoffs may not cut it. They made the playoffs earlier this decade and it didn't do anything for the longterm health of the organization. They can't just sneak in as some 7th seed and get shellacked. People are going to be watching this year, and if they aren't good, people will be disappointed. Well, they didn't have the young talent in 2001-02 that they have now. And, obviously, the organization was still stuck in its backward ways. What I mean is that just making the playoffs and getting the young guys some playoff experience may be viewed as enough of a step forward to keep the fans excited. But you're right, there will be a lot more people watching... I can't wait for the season to get going and for the first game on CI with Pat behind the mic.

    How comfortable are you about putting in Samardzija late in a tied playoff game right now? Not me.

    I'm pretty sure they were $1.5M over and Lang was set to make $4M. So that doesn't leave a lot of room. That's why I say the most likely scenario is a trade involving Khabi. $2.5m is a fair amount of space, but I think he was referring to next year, when they will clear Khabi and Havlat as well. I don't think there are any better centers currently available to sign. True. I think this year they just need to focus on making the playoffs. That would be sufficient improvement to keep the excitement building.

    And if there's anyone who truly would appreciate it, it's Santo. Is there a Cubs fan who wouldn't cry during his induction? I get choked up watching, or just thinking about, his number retirement ceremony. I get misty thinking of how he (and my aging father) would react to a World Series win all the time. I think I want it more for them than I do myself. Exactly. My Dad sent me a text Sunday night saying something to the effect, "Grandpa would have really enjoyed this season." He passed right before the start of the NLDS last year. I don't want to be saying that about my Dad in 30 years when the Cubs win it. Hell, I don't want my kid to be saying that about me in 50 years!

    Never to early to start worrying about how I'm going to mess up this week. I'm really tired of Braylon Edwards. Is this the week to bench him? I play two of Burress, Edwards and Jennings. I'm thinking I have to get Jennings in there. As for RBs, I'm thinking I have to start Forte over Maroney and LJ. Thoughts?

    Rozner doesn't like the non-english speakers. Okay, so apparently Tallon doesn't care about, uh, scoring goals. I get that we don't want one-dimensional forwards, but we have a pretty solid defensive group. As for the little Czech mob in the locker room, interesting insight, and definitely the first I've read of those three guys being a "problem." If you want to call it that. Lang has always been a problem. Havlat I've heard mixed reports on. Khabibulin I also know has had issues in the past. I don't think this is really a big shock though. I know Rozner kinda sucks but I don't think getting rid of Lang is a bad thing really. The only thing I recall hearing at Havlat is that he's a nancy. Obviously, the best result would be to dump Khabi and pick up a decent center. News flash, I know. But I never thought they would be in this cap situation because of the goalies.

    This week in St. Louis on FOX we'll get either Arizona vs. Washington or the Bears. Does anyone know when those decisions are typically made and put on the site? I have a feeling we'll be watching Kurt Warner. EDIT: With a Rams game at 3:00, I guess we may not get an early FOX game at all. ANOTHER EDIT: Channel guide says FOX will be showing "Beach Volleyball" before the 3:00 Rams game. Oh well. I didn't get ST. Can't really complain.
