  1. This is the second game in a row that Pat has mentioned right away that we'll be seeing Khabi a lot down the stretch here. Hadn't read that anywhere else, but obviously I'm glad to hear it.
  2. Well, apparently the Hocks won't be at full strength today. No Walker or Barker. In Hendry and Johnson. Good thing is, the defense can't possibly get any worse.
  3. no one is going to pound ovy for that. no one pounded sean avery for doing pushups after he scored a goal a few years ago, no one is going to go after him now. The Tampa guys will remember. The Avery thing is different because he's insane and you can't just take runs at him.
  4. As I suspected, several players were upset with Ovie's antics a few days ago and weren't afraid to talk about it. I'm not sure why the article refers to Hinote and Boyes as Flames players, but whatever. I guess lazy reporting and editing lives in Canada too. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=272013&lid=sublink010&lpos=headlines_nhl I liked Mike Green's quote, that there was no way he woud join in on that. He knew. Someone is going to pound Ovie for that one. And he has it coming.
  5. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/1489804,CST-SPT-hawk22.article And Eager will be sitting out three games for that dirty hit on Reddox. I thought he would, and I can't say I disagree. I know Eager's job is to mix it up, but there are lines and he crossed one.
  6. Sharpie will be back in the lineup today. This will be our first look at the 100% playoff roster.
  7. No matter who we play, I'm going to be so amped up for playoff hockey that it won't really matter who they are playing. But man, they need to get it into gear here. Of course, I'll be watching tomorrow.
  8. Not at all. I'll probably watch because KU and Mizzou will be done already, but I'm sure I'll flip back and forth quite a bit. Is there any point anymore in calling this one a must win? St. Louis [expletive] the bed last night in Vancouver, of course.
  9. Tootoo deserves some credit for being alive after this one, let alone staying on his feet:
  10. You know, I like Ovie. I really do. But his T.O.-like celebration with his stick when he scored his 50th was a little over the top. I know that's not really him and he thinks this is "being marketable," but I think it's likely to turn off a lot of hockey fans. And if he does that around the wrong guy, he just might get pummeled.
  11. UNI was game, no doubt. Good win for Purdue. I've got them beating Washington.
  12. Poor Radford. Every time I hear that name, all I think of is Walter. He lives in North Hollywood on Radford, near the In and Out Burger.
  13. 10-team, standard 5x5 roto keeper league: C: Ianetta 1B: Teixeira (keeper) 2B: Phillips (keeper) 3B: Longoria (keeper) SS: M. Young OF: Dye OF: Taveras OF: Hawpe UTIL: Cantu BENCH: David Murphy BENCH: LaPorta SP: Hamels (keeper) SP: Peavy SP: Billingsley SP: Zambrano SP: Harang RP: K-Rod RP: Broxton RP: Marmol RP: Sherrill Clearly, I went pitching heavy and left my OF a little vulnerable. I'm a Wily Taveras injury away from finishing last in steals. I think that pitching staff is the best or second best in the league. So I'll just need to trade from strength over the season to help the offense if needed. A bounceback year from Michael Young would be fantastic.
  14. What's more important than watching college basketball? Not visiting the unemployment office.
  15. I'm just waiting for that UNI/Purdue game to get down to the wire. Can't sit here all afternoon watching games, but I will for the last few minutes. Cal needs to pick it up.
  16. 3-0 so far, and through two 8/9 games. I feel pretty good. I'm never very good at picking these games, so let me have my moment. :-))
  17. Memphis is getting serious here. About time.
  18. i'm now annoyed that i changed my mind about memphis and have them beating washington in the elite 8. oh well, whatever... i am rooting for fun upsets not for the $7 that i spent on ncaa pools. nothing pisses me off more than someone rooting for memphis over northridge because they have a few bucks riding on it. if you put in $100 or something then i understand; otherwise, just have fun with it and root for the little guy. +1 I did three "money" brackets (only $5 each) and have Memphis going to the FF in all of them, but of course I'm pulling for CSUN.
  19. Agreed. If the Hawks miss the playoffs or bow out quietly in the first round, Tallon should be fired. I'm not going to give him credit for firing Savvy/hiring Q because I think that decision was made above him. He's the last high-profile holdover from the dark ages. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he is failing. Put him back in the booth with Foley. They were classic together.
  20. I completely disagree with any suggestion that the current economic conditions have anything to do with this. What really happened is that the Cardinals' ownership is ridiculously cheap and was trying to get this done without much of any capital investment of its own. That meant involving City Hall, which has always been skeptical, and it also meant a lack of leverage over its "corporate partner." MLB should have taken the All-Star game from St. Louis. Not only have the Cardinals done nothing with the site, their new plan is simply a money grab. Parking and a softball field people can rent. Brilliant.
  21. All other things being equal, I'm glad that Columbus is (it appears) going to make the playoffs. It's good for that franchise and their fans, and they are a solid team. That aside, it would also be good for this franchise and its fans to make the playoffs. I'm concerned at this point.
  22. I actually managed to skip this one. Sort of. I caught the OT on the radio. So, going only from what Murray said, Campbell is terrible. Big game in Vancouver tonight for St. Louis, 'Nucks and the Hawks.
  23. I just heard this story last night for the first time ever. I can assume what happened, but what is the story? It's pretty great. Here's the gist: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Romantic-or-insane-Marty-Brodeur-gets-married-a?urn=nhl,91034 EDIT: Actually, here's a better link: http://www.duhaime.org/LawMag/EntryId/36/Martin-Brodeur-Justice-1-Privacy-0.aspx
  24. I am going to try really hard not to watch the game tonight, but I know I will. I caught a little of last night's game on the radio and it sounded ugly. Columbus is good. The Hawks will need to play a physical game or they will have no chance.
  25. and neither were close I'm going to miss this week's road games due to work travel, and that's probably for the best. This anger reminds me of watching the Cubs.
