Ah, back to the fighting in the NHL argument. Fighting has been part of the game forever. It's obviously sanctioned in the rules, so comparisons to other professional sports don't apply. It's obviously difficult if not impossible to quantify, but the players say that well-timed fights can turn around momentum in games and give their team energy. As for the goon fights, off faceoffs and what-not, it's part of the entertainment of regular-season NHL hockey. I go to a Blues game, I know I'm going to see a hockey game and likely Cam Janssen throwing down with someone. The crowds obviously love it. The place is just as loud as when goals are scored. I'm not going to apologize for liking to see the fights. Screw the casual fan. If you don't like it, go watch soccer. But don't come in here and try to change a sport that has been great for decades and you don't know [expletive] about.
