I need to put last week out of my head. Was the second-highest scorer in both of my leagues and lost both games. Terrible. Chris Johnson @ New England or Benson vs. Houston? And this is an honest question: Orton @ San Diego or Brees vs. New York Giants? I see that DEN-SD game as a shootout, and I'm concerned about Brees against that defense. Still, I'm crazy to even consider this, right?

Obviously the deadline market hasn't been set yet. We don't know who might be available and at what cost. But there is no way Bowman lets this team go into the playoffs with Huet as the starter.

Remember he disappeared for awhile last year too. Not worried about him quite yet. I'm most impressed with the defense absolutely shutting down Calgary over the last two periods. What, 10 shots?

i think that's still highly unlikely, probably more 6-8 range There are some really, really bad teams. But if they mail it in and put Young out there, they'll win 2-3 games and that will get a top-5 pick.

That shootout was fun, given the outcome. We know Huet runs very hot or below average with no in between. So far we're getting the below average. I'm willing to give him 20 games or so before getting completely Cyno-type irate. If he doesn't have at least one stretch in there where he steals a couple games, we'll need to be looking for a goaltender at the deadline. The problem is that when he's at his typical below average, he will not make the huge save. You saw it in the shootout. He was absolutely embarassed. On all but one of the stops, the Colorado player either deked way too much or shot it right into his pads. Aside from the goaltending, I have to give Sopel credit. He still looks out of sync out there at times, but he played a very solid game last night. Barker too. It's too bad there is no room for Eager out there right now. The team seems to feed off his energy out there.

Schadenfreude keeps just fine overnight and there's nothing wrong with enjoying a nice, tall glass of it the next day. Coupled with the Mizzou debacle, it was just too perfect. And for all the times I've seen idiots here go as Bartman for Halloween, etc., no way am I taking the high road. -
