  1. Yeah, that would be giving the baseball people too much credit. If he doesn't get the job next year, no doubt he'll move on to another organization, probably pissing and moaning every step of the way. What I want to know is this: has he shown any ability whatsoever to manage? Or is it just, "Hi, I'm Ryne Sandberg, remember how good I was on all those shitty teams you rooted for when you were a kid? I want to manage the Cubs now!" It seems to me he's had a sense of entitlement about this job for a long time without much substance to back him up.
  2. I think right now they are pretty good, but the salary cap is going to bite them hard in the next several years. Also, I wouldnt put that much stock in Melrose. regardless of the salary cap situiation, which i think will be handled by next season, they have their stars locked up for a long time and will have players ready to take the places of the guys they're going to lose, not to mention the draft picks that they'll be getting in trades. Not to mention the oldest core guy that we have is Hossa. Besides him, we have a lot of guys that could conceivably make a career here for the next 15 years. I'm not really worried at all about the cap situation. I'm not either. Sure, other teams are going to overpay for guys like Sharp and Versteeg, but they aren't the core of this team. And we aren't going to be burdened with paying all of Huet's ridiculous contract, I can guarantee you that.
  3. It was three years ago that the Blackhawks were rated as the worst franchise in professional sports. What a turn around! If I'm not mistaken it was ESPN Magazine that did the rankings. I think they still do them every year. The "nail in the coffin" they used to bury the Hawks was Wirtz's famous quote that winning the Stanley Cup was "too expensive." What an [expletive]. I still remember the morning I went to the Chicago Tribune online and saw that he had died. I could hardly contain my happiness.
  4. This is bad news.
  5. This offseason has been thoroughly dicked up by everyone in charge. And I'm not impressed with our new owner tugging the pursestrings tight from day one. If he couldn't afford to build a winner, what the hell did he buy the team for?
  6. That's why my first stop in the morning is the Daily Herald.
  7. Tort was pretty hard on his team after the game, but that's his style. Just the same, I like hearing those sorts of things from the opposing coach. He knew that even though it was a 2-1 OT game, his guys got thoroughly dominated all night.
  8. BIG BUFF = BIG BAD ASS
  9. Is this what a neutered Sean Avery looks like? Meh.
  10. Beware of a make-up penalty call here.
  11. Toews got it.
  12. HAHAHA HELL YEAH! Finally!
  13. Kane sold that one. HOW MANY CHANCES ARE WE GOING TO GET???
  14. Oh that was in wasn't it! Come on!
  15. We caught a break there. Bleed Toews!
  16. Versteeg has been awful tonight. Waiting a second too long on nearly every shot, bad passes, not sharp at all.
  17. This is epic bed [expletive].
  18. We dominate until the 4th line gets out there. Need Burish.
  19. Similar game in Detroit tonight. Blues outshot 42-26 but won 1-0.
  20. Unbelievable.
  21. At least the other Hawks won tonight. Rock Chalk! :D
  22. SON OF A BITCH@!
  23. I don't know what NYR did to get that penalty either. If that's interference, wow.
  24. How the hell is that a penalty? That's ridiculous? I guess the elbow in Steeg's head when he was on the ice was okay but whatever Toews did wasn't? For the love of Cyno, these referees [expletive] suck!
  25. Unbelievable.
