    People can defend the steroid use all they want, but I don't know how people defend the fact that he has absolutely zero interest in winning a baseball game. He left after he got his hit tonight when the game was 5-4. He left last night after the 7th when the score was 1-1. Does anyone in San Francisco actually care about, you know, winning?

    How bout Pie straight up for Saltalamacchia? ATL gets a young, inexpensive CF to replace Jones. Cubs get a young, inexpensive catcher. Personally, I'd keep Pie and make defense a priority at catcher. But if they'd take Marshall and Murton for him, that's a no brainer.

    I think the reason he Doesn't start as often as you Would think Is because he's usually hungover.

    I'd rather have Mathis catching than Barrett. I'm not thrilled with Pierre either, but who else could they get to lead off? Izturis should probably hit 7 or 8, but he was hitting pretty well before he got hurt, and he's only 26. Not to mention his glove. Those moves would leave money to improve the bench. I don't see how the offense could be worse than this year. Yeah, the rotation is weak after Zambrano and Zito...and you'd have a whole lot of money tied up in 5 players (the Lee's, Zito, Zambrano, and ARod).

    Replace entire coaching staff Ramirez/Prior/Jones for A-Rod (winter deal) Maddux/Cash for Cesar Izturis (july 06 deal) Barrett/Prospect for Jeff Mathis (Angels use Barrett as DH) Sign FA Carlos Lee Sign FA Barry Zito No changes to bullpen, give Wood $2M with incentives, hopefully closer by 2008 lineup: Pierre Izturis D Lee Rodriguez C Lee Murton Cedeno Mathis SP Bench includes: Theriot, Blanco, Pagan, Bynum SP Zambrano SP Zito SP Marshall SP Marmol/Guzman/Hill/Ryu Mathis and Izturis are major upgrades defensively. Move Cedeno to 2B, Izturis SS, ARod 3B. If ARod wants to play SS, fine. If Murton doesn't work out, look for LF in July, or call Pie up. As Mathis' hitting improves, move him up to 6 or 7. If you can't get A-Rod, I would still deal Ramirez. He's lazy. Is he fun to watch? I like Freel, but he's got 2 DWI's in the last year or so...no thanks.

    If he does trade for Kearns, I'd like to see Freel thrown in. (I don't understand the obsession with Kearns though.) How bout Hill and another prospect for Pena and Freel?

    I'd love to have Freel in the 2 spot as well. Bonus: You know Hendry would have interest, because Freel has been arrested for drunk driving too. :P Rich Hill straight up for Ryan Freel?

    Thanks. I've been reading for a long time, just never posted. That's not the lineup I want, but I think it's very realistic. I can just see Baker starting Neifi 140 games at 2B and playing Hollandsworth...err...Mabry wayyy too much. I think we're all gonna be sick if we have to endure that again. To get Jones I guess you'd have to commit to 3 years, so maybe it rules him out. Hopefully.

    Unfortunately, more realistic might be: CF Pierre LF Murton/Mabry platoon 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Jacque Jones ($8M) C Barrett 2B Neifi! SS Cedeno Add SP Burnett or Weaver ($10-$12M) Patterson/Walker traded for prospects
