  2. One the one hand, what TT says is sound and logical. On the other hand...ENOUGH OF YOUR BORAX, POINDEXTER. If they know they can afford Martin and still spend elsewhere I'd be pretty excited with them signing him.
  3. There's no question mark around Lake's bat. It's just bad and that's not going to change. Yeah, I had no idea there was still anyone wondering what Junior Lake could do besides being terrible at baseball.
  4. 1 Maddon and Ricketts found a Deep Blue Something CD in the sewer.
  5. So go to BR instead and get your eyes checked out.
  6. Hamels' injury and abuse history have been vastly overstated by people here; he's talked about like he's on the verge of shattering into pieces because of this last season. Look, a Baez for Hamels deal isn't likely at all, but given the right tweaking I could be sold on a deal that involved those two things happening.
  7. I really hope Epstein and co. aren't too in love with their prospects like a bunch of guys on a message board if the right deal can be made. None of these guys should be untouchable.
  8. And trading him for Hamels (which still makes zero sense to me) is hardly the only suggestion we've seen that involves getting rid of Baez. My puzzlement is more with the overall negativity towards him than with a specific deal in mind. It's amazing to me that Baez struggled just like we all knew he would. We had how many discussions on this very board talking about how he would struggle at first and most agreed that it was good he could start in 2013 to start getting adjusted in a season that didn't matter.Yet here we are after he did what was expected and people are ready to throw him into any package. It just doesn't make sense. Not any package; my still preferred avenue is using him the main part of a deal to land Stanton. I highly doubt he'd be moved for Hamels, but if it did happen I could be talked into it being a good move. And I've said several times how I was expecting him to have shown at least some kind of significant improvement by then end of the year; he didn't. Yeah, the learning curve is going to be tougher at the highest level, but he was REALLY bad. I highly doubt anyone here was assuming he'd have been as horrendous as he was with little signs of improvement at the end of the season. Given the flaws in his game and given that they have Russell and Bryant waiting in the wings I wouldn't lose much sleep if they still sold high on him and got a great return.

  13. From somewhere else: 2014, ’12, ’10 SFG Brian Sabean. None. 2013 Bos Ben Cherington. None. 2011 StL John Mozeliak. None. 2009, ’00, 1999, ’98, ’96 NYY Brian Cashman. None. 2008 Phi Pat Gillick. Five seasons as a minor league pitcher. 2007, ’04 Bos Theo Epstein. None. 2006 Stl Walt Jockety. None. 2005 ChW Kenny Williams. Six season as a major league outfielder. 2003 Fla Larry Beinfest. None. 2001 Ari Joe Garagiola, Jr. None. 1997 Fla Dave Dombrowski. None. 1995 Atl John Schuerholz. None. I guess Theriot is going to stop bragging about being a two time WS winner since Sabean and Mozeliak are frauds or something.
  14. I will pay all of the money to see Ryan Theriot made a GM.
  15. Yessssss.
  16. "Lighten up, Kaplan! That youngster will make a perfect addition to my cabinet as Secretary of Partying Down!"
  17. Hopefully he did and he really helped out some hardworking ladies, you monster.
  18. Selfishly getting 4 RBI's when the team only needed 1. http://youtu.be/RniTJailln0
  19. How soon we forget: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/~nsbb/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2236476#p2236476 [expletive], Jersey tried his hardest to Kyle up the greatest thread of all time. It was a tumultuous run, but I always liked the guy. Good attitude and when he was on, Jesus Christ, he was ON. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn233/OHCubsFan/OuterSpace.jpg
  20. LULZ at the "obviously."
  21. Yeah. I'll read it and make fun, but [expletive] if i'll go over there and antagonize them with my presence. No matter how hard they try to be friendly, that is rarely well received. Shoutout to Jake. They've got a decent community there and most of the better posters don't get sucked in to bash the Cubs-wankfest something like their Maddon thread turned into.
