And trading him for Hamels (which still makes zero sense to me) is hardly the only suggestion we've seen that involves getting rid of Baez. My puzzlement is more with the overall negativity towards him than with a specific deal in mind. He was really, really, really bad and has some serious flaws in his game. I hope he turns it around. -

Yeah. I'll read it and make fun, but [expletive] if i'll go over there and antagonize them with my presence. No matter how hard they try to be friendly, that is rarely well received. Shoutout to Jake. They've got a decent community there and most of the better posters don't get sucked in to bash the Cubs-wankfest something like their Maddon thread turned into.

Eh, it was a pretty goofy press conference. It was fun from our standpoint, but the general commentary about it from outside was amusement or mocking because it/he WAS pretty goofy. It was goofy, but I've heard a lot of national media types saying that Maddon killed it in addition to being irreverent. The only segment I've heard just dumping on Maddon over it has been Cardinals fans. Yeah, definitely didn't see the national mocking angle at all. Not of the signing, but just of the press conference. Along the lines of, "hey, look at this guy buying everyone drinks/looking like Harry Caray." Nothing major.

Yeah, I was over at GRB and saw a poster say he wouldn't want any manager as unkempt as Maddon was yesterday, that it was reflective of messy thinking or some such nonsense, and that it would be beneath the Cards. I don't know if it was sarcasm, but I literally laughed out loud.
