  1. I think I mentioned the expectations vs how it ended. That's a big part of it. No one is mad if Hector Rondon blows a save in a 90 loss season but when a team with WS aspirations blows a save with a Kearns HR after your ace struck out 16 guys in 9 innings and gave up only 1 run and then the players respond by calling to complain that the announcers are being too critical of them it lays the seeds of a hate able team No. You're flat out wrong on this. Why wouldn't people also hate the 2007 and 2008 teams? And if WS aspirations being dashed is the gold standard then 2003 would blow everyone else away. Except those teams were actually awesome and we're not bizarre weirdos holding grudges like spiteful middle school mean girls.
  2. You can have a laundry list of "hatable" things from every season; the only things exceptional from that one are the collapse and Sosa's exit, and the former isn't really that hate-worthy since it's not this team doesn't have a ridiculous history of failure. Clearly this is a bonkers thing you've been walking around with. Christ, if we went by your standards then nobody would like the Cubs because every season is more hateable than the last outside of, like, twenty of them.
  3. Meatball You would probably prefer our next coach to be firey too right? :D i would prefer the next coach to be a guy who can show up to a post game interview drunk as hell and everyone still loves him. Just have Maddon work year-round.
  4. There's no obsession with Hinrich; he won't be playing as big a role later in the season.
  5. For those not wallowing the Bears thread, here's what UMFan said: This kinda blew my mind. Obviously you have meatballs who hate Prior and Sosa, and the logical hatred of Dusty and things like his misuse of Hawkins, but to declare that the '04 team is some kind of notorious "hated" team seems really weird.
  6. Nobody hates the 2004 team, you maniac. A ton of people hate the 2004 team. Maybe 10 years has cooled things down some, who knows. No, this is easily one of the most randomly absurd things you've ever posted here.
  7. Nobody hates the 2004 team, you maniac.
  8. AH DON'T WANT YER LIFE.
  9. Well, glad you waited at least 24 hours before repeating yourself.
  10. Everyone on this team has earned some booing.

  12. I'd rather just wait until 2016 and get David Price without giving up any prospects or taking any bad contracts/ I'd rather try to compete now by acquiring a better pitcher than Price.
  13. Yup, obviously. And the drinking was out of control before that. A lot of his early Cub games you can hear him starting out strong and then just getting progressively sloshed as the game goes on.
  14. He was a phenomenal broadcaster back in the day. He was not for most of his time with the Cubs.
  15. God, that is so stupidly hot take-y from Haugh. Is that the kind of crap that leads to getting columnist jobs? Even funnier since he was adamant about NOT being a leader outside of just being professional and doing his best and yadda-yadda-yadda.

  17. We have a lovingly crafted statue of a sloppy drunk who was terrible at his job; who gives a [expletive] if they retire Wood's number or not?
  18. Keep it going, you dumb mule.
  19. I see no problem here. They seem like fine fellows with good heads on their shoulders.
  20. Turnarounds in football can be very quick. You're basically creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of extended failure if you willfully trade away a workable QB with no replacement option anywhere on the horizon.
