  1. The OL has stunk most of the year.
  2. This is kind of my view. He gets a D or F from me right now but I still see a glimmer of hope because individual things haven't been bad across the board. I wouldn't be heartbroken if he was canned too, but I fear the alternative for sure. I don't buy into the whole "tries to be smarter thing". Any GM is going to go against the consensus at some time. I wouldn't trust the job to crowd sourcing. Just because someone takes a risk doesn't mean they were out to prove something, just that their efforts led down a different road. So while you have to question how they reached their decision to me it just comes across as lazy fans moaning to assume it was reached because Emery or anyone goes against the grain just for the sake of going against the grain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk This is the same very weak argument used to support hendry as gm. Individual good moves are meaningless. Emery is in over his head. He's a division 2 strength and conditioning coach in ill fitted executive clothing. This isn't an argument to support Emery; it's an argument against a lazy criticism of him.
  3. Yeah, hearing walking [expletive] David Kaplan screaming once again this morning about how they need to dump everyone, including Cutler, is so frustrating. Cutler isn't the answer, but you also can't just toss him out when there's nobody behind him and no option in the draft. And I agree, all of the "hipster GM/coach" digs are beyond stupid. Bad is just bad.
  4. old plan tom threw his clothes from the first few frames into the trash can. i couldn't draw sweat pants hanging over the side of the trash can for the life of me, though. I appreciate the dedication to your craft.
  5. Old Plan Tom needs to not be in a tux. Put a barrel or a sammich board or something over it.
  6. i don't think i would want to do that trade Yeah, that seems unwise. Swap out one of your two best prospects for one of the Hacksy McHacksalot twins and someone else and I'd be more onboard. I'd definitely try to make it Baez instead of Russell(and possibly Valbuena instead of Alcantara too), but put the max combo on there to make the conversation less of a pointless "lol nats wood nevah do that" argument. It's definitely a franchise altering trade/gamble. I'd think it would have to be swapping one of them for Bryant.
  7. There's zero chance that Bryant is on the opening day roster regardless of what happens to Valbuena.
  8. i don't think i would want to do that trade Yeah, that seems unwise. Swap out one of your two best prospects for one of the Hacksy McHacksalot twins and someone else and I'd be more onboard.
  9. I want a monster deal, not getting a portion of games locked in with busted ass channel 7 until 20-[expletive]-19. More money than the crappy WGN deal, sure, but not the [expletive] you money of the oh-so-brief insane TV deal bubble.
  10. http://replygif.net/i/229.gif
  11. I think Baez is a fraud of a sham and won't amount to squat and even I think this thread is hilariously hytserical now.
  12. What? Montero would get more starts over the course of a season than Johnny Gomes or Ross. Plus Miguel is definitely better at baseball at this point. Ross would just be a pickup for Lester and Gomes would be a bench bat. None of those three fit the bill, and ideally they don't even pick up Ross or Gomes in the first place.
  13. They want a good veteran starting player, not an OK veteran platoon player.
  14. Alright, we're getting distracted; time for more baller moves, Cubs.
  15. There's a guy I work with who totally believes it. I definitely went through a conspiracy phase back in the day, but then as the internet became more of a thing and I had access to more information it became obvious how much of them were just made up of exaggerations, overreactions, mistakes or just plain bull [expletive]. It's depressing how many people don't take advantage of how much learning they have at their fingertips and they only dwell in places that treat these theories like gospel. It's a bit scary how you'll hear people rattle off things like chemtrails or not landing on the moon or Truther crap like they're established and accepted facts.
  16. It used to be a lot bigger than it is now; it really flourished in the 90's. Kind of replaced people freaking out over fluoride in the water.
  17. So much science.
  18. Billy's a big believer in chemtrails: https://www.metabunk.org/threads/billy-corgan-talks-about-chemtrails-on-stage.1270/ Probably a Truther, too. And the Vedder song...he says "Wri-gu-lee Field."
  19. We're talking about ridiculous returns. Harper is younger and a proven asset. Bryant isn't a can't-miss player.
  20. I'd give them Bryant and Russell in a heartbeat.
  21. Whut.
