  1. Good thing they stole those runs, because they ain't doing dick the rest of the day.
  2. Hey, let's have some fun and take a peek at Willson Contreras' second half splits going in to today's game! .206 .297 .288 .585 HOOOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!
  3. It's so, so sad that Bryant and Contreras back to back is such a nightmare combo. Woof. Either Schwarber or Happ would have been better to have in there over Bryant.
  4. Matt Carpenter has such a bizarre month to month breakdown this season. May-August? An OPS of about 1.000. The first and last months of the season? An OPS of about .575.
  5. this is why bryant didn't come back until today
  6. It's not even necessarily either of those scenarios with him; to me, it seems like plenty of times where he simply doesn't try to fight off a pitch when a lot of other hitters would, like he just assumes, "oh, of course that's a ball."
  7. You can picture the exact moment sofa gave up hope of ever winning again and completely changed his life Actually, you're not that far off; minus the questionable fashion choices (I mean, really; SHORTS??!), that basically was me 3 years (and about 175 pounds + a beard made of sadness) ago.
  8. [expletive]. This guy is our spirit animal.
  9. In addition to his shoulder? THAT'S SO CUB.
  10. This is purely anecdotal, but it feels like he gets called out on close pitches way more than anyone else on the team. His patience should be helping him, but he's being screwed on marginal pitches
  11. It wasn't pretty, but it'll do. Nice job, Lester.
  12. Wow. Get righteously fucked, ump.
  13. He is too patient, IMO. He sees the ball really well, but seemingly has too much faith in the ump, if that makes sense. He lets a ton of close to borderline pitches go that he rightly sees as balls, but he doesn't seem to swing defensively nearly as much as you see a lot of guys who see the ball well do.
  14. Damn; THIS close to getting Duke that boat. Maybe I'll get him a dinghy.
  15. If Bote dongs, I'll buy Duke a sweet toy boat.
  16. Cheap SOB Hey, it's not my fault that he hates orphans and roots for terrible diseases.
  17. If Willson dongs here I will give $100 to his favorite charity.
  18. All of the hemming and hawing over Machado now means diddly squat; dude's been worth the same total fWAR as Harper this season and the previous three (a bit more, I believe), and he's been at least a 6 WAR player for 3 of those 4 seasons. Plus Harper's defensive value with FG is more hideous, too (yeah, I get SS is a more premium position; even if the Cubs HAD to play Machado there, it's seemingly not killing his value as much as Harper is a sinkhole out there). The Cubs need to land one of these dudes, and it's not like one is this hugely disappointing consolation prize vs. the other.
  19. If someone is trying to convince themselves that the Cubs came out OK by not signing either, which is what that would technically be, they are a damn lying insane nerd.
