  1. Why is it when people get frustrated with a players very noticeable flaws remaining problems are only "blaming that player for this team being so bad?" It's such a massive strawman. Aramis has the talent...we've all seen it. It's frustrating when it gets buried like it has this year, and that's no because a lot of us think he's terrible...we know he can do it and succeed. Again, frustration...not blaming.
  2. No kidding, Mrs. Hill. Guzman I can understand. Congrats on being first in line for the crap-ladeling Rich Hill bandwagon. He should be pitching before retched wreckage like Rusch. AAA All-Star needs to get someone out at the major league level and maybe even earn a mlb win before he turns 35. If another team really was interested in him before Hendry is an IDIOT FOR NOT DEALING HIM QFFT I'll take a bloated, 60-year-old Maddux before I have to endure another Rich Hill start. That said, I still think he has some use. Get that man to the bullpen and show him off and ship him off!
  3. Hey, you leave Augie out of this!
  4. Trading Walker unless a dynamite replacement can be had is stupid.
  5. Only 4 in Premium. That's not very Premium. If I'm paying, this thread needs to be stomped and hurled into an alley where it can be peed on by bums and laughed at by children.
  6. Weather? :sunny: Weather, whatever. Sunny if we win. KC won 11 out of 16. Another reason for hope. That's not a sign for hope. What good is 11/16 when you are still just 30-54? It's just a sign that any crap team can have short bursts of decent results, but they are still very likely to remain a crap team when all is said and done. I don't believe we have a crap team. Ours is the team on the NORTHside of town.
  7. Damn, man, what the funk happened? Maddux was cruising through the first four...
  8. But this is the slippery slope. Who plays CF for 2007? Would this force Hendry to sign Pierre to an extension? Would Hendry be comfortable with Pagan in CF for a year? If Hendry came through and did his job and signed Carlos Lee for LF and traded for Abreu in RF, I'd have no problem with Pagan taking up the bulk of time in CF. He's got the speed and his offensive numbers are a much better fit there than in either corners.
  9. The "dark age" hasn't passed since 1907.
  10. That's...optimistic? While I definitely agree that the post you were replying to was suggesting a deal that absurdly overpaid, your deal is sort of, well, ridiculous. I know the scuttlebutt is that the fans and maybe the organization up there are pissed at/tired of him, but they're nowhere near hating him enough to essentially dump one of the greatest hitters in the game's history for what you're talking about. Maybe it's not enough. I'm just saying you give what the Yankee's what they need which is OF help and pitching. Maybe you add Eyre, or Williamson. Maybe you add Walker. But you don't trade the farm and your starting OF for one guy. Right. Which is why I would trade Jacque, Aramis, Wood and a reliever for him with the idea he'd still play 3rd in Chicago. Plug Pagan/Mabry/Nevin into RF for the rest of the year with the idea (hopefully) that the team would be going after someone like Abreu for next year.
  11. It was just a brief rumor and now we're running over it for fun...what else is there to do this season?

  13. Why would Dusty come out and say, "yep, I'll be gone in a week or two. Screw you, losers!" The guy no doubt wants to coach somewhere else. Handling the loss of his job undiplomatically doesn't help him there.
  14. One more time. NOBODY IS 100% OFF LIMITS! He can't be serious.
  15. I luckily clicked to the game on EI about 2 seconds before he stole, and it was so glorious I jumped up and dropped the remote and sent the batteries flying.
  16. Maybe Aram had those horrible at-bats and strikeouts tonight trying to prove a point, and it backfired when Marshall pitched so well.
  17. Huh...this is kinda cool. It's great to see Marshall have such a great performance...though it's [expletive] to see the rest of the team blow multiple scoring chances yet again. Good ol' heart attack Dempster...it was nice his breaking ball decided to show up again when he used it to strike out Lamb. The closer role is such a mental one, hopefully holding a close game like this, however scarily, can help boost him back up.
  18. I wouldn't surprise me at all to hear him talk like this, nor does it overly concern me, especially with the hope that we've got some new bosses rolling in. Like people are saying, he's very young and has been looked at as THE future of this wretched team almost from the moment he got here. There's a lot of press focus on him, not just local, both positive and good. People are constantly criticizing him for being too soft or injured too much or over praising him as being the next coming of Jesus on the pitching mound. Add the crappy coaching, the heartbreak of 2003 and the freak injuries on top of it all and that's a hell of a ride for a guy's who is still a young adult. Yeah, these guys need to be tough, but it's not like he's copping out...he's just being honest. I'm all for letting him take the time to ease back into things mentally and physically. This year is not worth it...he can be an anchor for years if given a little more patience until 2007.
  19. Don't trade them unless we get a really, really, really good offer. These are 2 guys I want on my team in 2007. And to the White Sox and Cardinals, they should be 100% off-limits. Please give us one good, legitimate reason that makes sense to anyone beyond puberty.
