  1. Izturis all the way. Marquis won't be loved, but I haven't seen anything even close to the hate Cesar is already getting for being a slightly better and much more expensive Neifi. Add that we have such a glaring hole at SS and he's doomed. Marquis can at least somewhat "blend in" given all the pitchers we have. SS is a black hole no matter who is there, leaving much more focus on those that suck it up.
  2. No. Maybe as a decoy, but that's it. He needs to master catching and holding onto the ball first.
  3. Wood "isn't warming to the idea" of pitching relief? I hadn't heard that before.
  4. All Rex has to do is not cough up the ball, which he has drastically cut down in this year's playoffs. In both games he's also come up with some key plays and drives that directly lead to the Bears winning. He doesn't have to be earth-shattering...just not horrible.
  5. Poor Zoom deserves a ring if the Bears end up winning the Superbowl. Its a shame what happened with him. He's a lot of fun to watch on the Comcast broadcasts. I love all the hysterical fashion stuff between him and the players.
  6. I wish I could go to a Jerry Azumah pre-Super Bowl party in Miami.
  7. I'd think the drinking would take a backseat if the Cubs made it to a WS, and especially if they won. I wouldn't want to forget a thing.
  8. Lovie seems laid back emotionally, but it seems "intellectually" he's very precise and dedicated to running the Bears and how he keeps the team disciplined. Dusty seemed so laissez faire in all regards...emotions, team discipline, lineups, game events. Lovie seems in control...Dusty just seemed not to care.
  9. huh, last I checked the Bears had Urlacher and Briggs He was talking about the Colts dipstick. by both sides I thought he meant both defensive units? Dipstick? Still sour over the beating today i see. LOL. Can you go a single thread without being an ass?
  10. OMC, sorry some people here their their team winning is an excuse to not act like a decent human being and show some common courtesy. The Saints are going to be a good team for a while and they had a fantastic season, and they were in it tonight for most of the game. Good game!
  11. Defensive end. He'd kill QBs. And his sack dance would be crazy. great now I'm sad we'll never get to see the Big Z sack dance, you're right it would be incredible I'd bring back the Farns just to see him spear a few more suckers right in the gut with a ferocious charge.
  12. pretty old news. Yeah. Until he "quit" the Cubs, most of our hopes here around him leaving the organization involved him replacing Selig. Baseball definitely runs in the family...as long as he can get along and keep peace with the owners, hey, rock on.
  13. How do you know they didn't?
  14. Anyone think Singletary could be the next Bears Defensive Coordinator once Rivera leaves? T'would be nice. Unlike that link. *Shudders*
  15. Z should get Zito money. And a herd of cattle. And a bouncing car. And a solid gold house. And my firstborn.
  16. I'm the same way. I'm indifferent to the players wearing them, but in terms of which jerseys look best with what I wear, the grays win out by a landslide.
  17. Much much much more appropriate than "Bears should finish what Katrina started" How is there anything wrong with saying a Mardi Gras size can of whoop-a**. Mardi Gras is a huge festival. He is saying opening up a huge can of whoop-a** on the Saints. Your comment above was worse. No no. That wasn't sarcasm. I was telling the truth. That's a comment that made me laugh and I was down with it. "Mardi Gras sized can". This thread just suddenly took a turn for the sexy...
  18. With gale force winds and a 35 foot storm surge! LOL! ROTFL! LMAO!  I think, what, 2 people made very awful and very inappropriate Katrina comments? Do we really need to drag this out? Yes, I know you're making fun of them for those comments, but still, between that and the "you people" thing making it sound like Bears fans en masse are making fun of the hurricaine, is this really necessary? what i said might have been inappropriate but meteorlogists and scientists the world over said it was going to happen sooner or later. It sucks that they were so dead on in their predictions and its sad that the people in charge and the citizen didnt take the storm seriously. None of which has anything REALLY to do with the football game we're talking about. This is hardly the time or the place to try and bring something like that up. That's just common sense.

  20. I thought it was worth repeating. Besides 29 GMs can't be wrong. I think Wilson is a good player, but let's not overrate him. There is a reason why he was still available in January. Maybe it was a personally choice, maybe it professional, nonetheless, I don't think his value is as high as some may think. I don't think you understand how people on this board rate Wilson. Ideally he'd platoon with Jones. I'm not handing him the starting 1B job, or even a starting corner OF position. I think he's a fantastic match with Jones for a platoon that could produce excellent numbers. Agreed. Northside, you seem to be going under the impression that people here wanted Wilson as an everyday starting player when that simply isn't the case. It's been clear for a long time that his value would be as a platoon player and as a bench player. He would fill both roles very well and, given the market, at a very good price. That's why people want him. Nobody here is thinking he's some kind of everday all star.
  21. Big difference between the Skins and Tampa Game, the Bears Won, the Saints lost. The giants suck and didnt deserve to be in the playoffs and the cowboys defense really hit the skids the last month of the season, even more so than the bears if the Saints are a hot team, the Bears are even hotter reguardless of what every [expletive] outside of John Clayton says at the [expletive] sports broadcasting network Why would wins and losses matter? Lets all marvel at the Saints. They are on fire. I mean they have won 6 of their last 11 games counting the playoff win. What an amazing streak they are on. well listening to ESPN you would think the bears were 3-7 over their last 11 instead of 7-3 What they did in that game you left out is simply too unspeakable to mention in polite company. And it was played in another dimension.
  22. Hey, even perfect mechanics have trouble with a fullspeed runner and a screaming line drive. What are the odds a pitcher would suffer two such injuries in such a short span of time? That was my first thought too, but if he had better mechanics he would have "crashed" more gracefully into Giles and not put his elbow in the way of a screaming line drive from Brad Hawpe . Actually, only last year did he start having "mechanics" problems and I think that was largely him trying to "shortcut" his rehab. This is the "healthiest" he has been in several years and may even break camp with the rest of the team. I am having good thoughts about a rotation with a healthy Prior and Zambrano at the top of it with Rich Hill following it up. If we somehow break camp this year with Z leading it off and Prior starting the 2nd game of the year followed by Lilly and Hill and those 4 make 30 starts a piece, we're going to have a very good year. Factor in the eventual integration of Kerry Wood: Super Closer on the other end with our rather decent bullpen in between and you've got a recipe for awesome awesomeness. It's an insane fantasy, but still, it's a nice one.
  23. Heh, good catch. I really hate all the various solid color jerseys a la the Cubs' blues that other teams have. They seem so amateur and straight out of the 80's. Let them die. I'll always love the pinstripes, but I think the new-ish uniforms the Reds just unveiled look pretty good. Much better ideas than "here's a single mass of garish color on your upper body that basically looks like a t-shirt."
