  1. It was just a crazy play where Lee got there at 1B just by luck really. And I think it went past ted and derosa flipped it to lee. No. Grounder squirts just under Lilly's glove, Lee (I think) barehands it and tosses it to Lilly who dashes to the base in time.
  2. Wow, what a refreshing change of pace from a Cubs pitcher.
  3. Cotts did alright opening day. If we're basing them on their only regular season appearances so far with their new clubs, it's almost a wash.
  4. Trade Z to a west coast team for some choice prospects, and then spin off a package of cheap young players to Florida for him.
  5. I wouldn't mind that at all. I live relatively close to the site and the neighborhood down here is awesome. Lots of classic style homes and businesses.
  6. The sentimental side of me wants to see them finally win a WS while at Wrigley. Once that's done, I'd better live with the building of a new stadium. Even then, I'd like it if they kept the brick wall with the ivy, plus the classic scoreboard and the red marquee sign out front. Held, I'd rather the new place could somehow still be called "Wrigley Field." I do not, however, want to see them outside of Chicago. I've seen people mention building a new place in the suburbs, and that just doesn't seem right.
  7. I figured as much from the get-go of this news. Z and his agent would have to be huge jerks or just willfully ignorant to toss everything aside because of something this monumental falling on everyone, especially since I have little doubt that they played a huge part in this whole thing not getting done until this point. That's not some ringing endorsement of Hendry, but I also don't get why so many just assume Z and his agent were sitting around just waiting to be signed, wondering why Hendry wasn't calling. Both sides know what they're doing by letting it get to here.
  8. I guess I think the greys have enough blue. The hat's always going to be blue no matter what, the undershirt (plus the sleeves) is blue, plus you have the blue of the "Chicago." I definitely wouldn't mind some more blue trim, but the idea of solid colors dominating the pants or jersey just strikes me as looking so hack-y. And the term "Cubbie/Cubby blue" is awful.
  9. If that's the case, then they should go back to the baggy pants look. http://www.cycleback.com/20thphotos2_files/image009.jpg Damn right. And it should be against the law to not show the socks. AGAINST THE LAW.
  10. I'm declaring that as of this moment, I am posting in this thread. Soon...I shall post in another thread. Eventually, I will do the laundry. At some point, I will make myself dinner. At the end of the day, I will be sleeping.
  11. Ya so maybe i thought today was 4/3 and not 4/2. Shut up :( It's OK. Dunn hit the ball so hard he actually caused a ripple in the time stream that temporarily bumped you ahead into the future.
  12. There were probably guys that thought the pajama uniforms in the early 80's were lucky. Doesn't mean they should have kept wearing them.
  13. We're obviously not color blind, since we can see how hideous the blues are.
  14. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/324220,CST-SPT-cubnt03.article He's not even ready for AAA yet. I don't see how he can bitch about being left off the big league roster. If he kicks ass in Iowa then he can bitch, til then he should keep his mouth shut. Where did he "bitch about being left off the roster?" Did you miss the part where they didn't quote or paraphrase anything he said? I must have missed where it came even remotely close to resembling him "bitching."
  15. I'd love to get ARod for Z under the right circumstances, but saying Zambrano can't throw strikes is absurd. Not really. Z led the majors in walks (115) last season. He was also fourth in the league in strikeouts (a mere six off the leader). Can't get those without throwing strikes. Sure you can. How many guys to you see swing and miss on stuff outside the strike zone? Plenty. Especially with Z. It's all part of the game. His movement is fantastic, but I'd still like to see him hit the zone more frequently. Yeah - I have to agree. Check out the league leaders from last season. Z was 5th in Ks, but, as mentioned above, had 115 walks. In the rest of the top 10, most guys were around 60 walks (Lackey had 72, Santana had 47, but the average was around 60). Z nearly doubled that last year. I love that Z strikes out 200 hitters, but I'd give up some of those Ks if he'd bring his walk total down significantly. I don't know if I'd say he "can't throw strikes" but he certainly doesn't do it as well as other high-K pitchers. link BTW - did Schilling really only walk 28 while striking out 183? If so, that's just insane. Who is disagreeing that he walks guys too much? He gets the strike outs. If enough the balls aren't technically in the zone, well, he's still throwing strikes in some capacity. The original statement that "he doesn't throw strikes," to me, is an inaccurate oversimplification.

  17. HALLELUJAH!!! I definitely think the greys can be improved, but at least they're not as hopelessly ugly and softball-looking as the blues.
  18. That's way overpaying for Ichiro. Any one of those guys on their own might be too much for Ichiro.
