  1. That's quite a stretch. Am I the only one who sees a pattern here? Tell me why a young pitcher, can't make it out of ST for four straight seasons ready to pitch in a big league game? Every year, he has had 5 months to rest, rehab, strengthen whatever, and he still can't get ready. How do the other guys do it? Please don't tell me he was overused by Dusty, that is the lamest excuse I have ever heard, and was 4 years ago. There are many pitchers, that have pitched 200+ innings year after year, and he has only done it once. This guy is missing something, and it isn't talent, but talent doesn't matter if you can't take the ball. He was overused by Dusty. Really overused. Then your saying one year of 211 innings fried this guy? If that is the case, he was not meant to be a starting pitcher in the bigs. It wasn't that long ago, starting pitchers would pitch every 4th day, compile 300+ innings per year, and complete 20+ games per year. Today, if you throw 200+, and have 4-5 complete games, you are abused. You're leaving out the fact it was his first full year and he was still very young. It's a general rule of thumb to not overextend brand new pitchers to a workload like that when they first show up.
  2. I'm pretty sure Dave Bush would argue with you there :D Man, I've already forgotten their best win.
  3. Well what the heck has he been doing the last 2 weeks? Exactly what I'm wondering.. Beating up crippled nuns.
  4. Besides Sheets(!), everyone is a Cubs killer this season.
  5. Damn additional reading.
  6. You can't blame the weather when there's a whole other team out there that managed to score enough runs to beat you. That's just common sense.
  7. I have nothing to add except that I was really hoping that our first streak of the season would be winning one. Now I'm sad.
  8. I really don't feel comfortable dumping Miller at this point with Prior off in limbo. All of our other pitching backups aren't too great. I'm not saying Miller is going to be some kind of ace, but it's not like he hasn't any success since coming to the Cubs. If he keeps sucking, of course, get Guzman in there, but for now it's only been 1 start.
  9. I doubt that nobody wants Miller. Based on his starts at the end of last year, there are takers out there. I hope Guzman will have a great future with this club, but right now I want to see if Miller can get anything done so the Cubs can capitalize on a trade involving him. I definitely don't think Miller is as worthless or "trash."
  10. is any of this incorrect? Well, not exactly, however I believe a little perspective says that it's early. I agree that this team is going to bust out offensivly at some point, I just hope it's sooner rather then later. It's the defense that bothers me as well. Today's game isn't the best all around example of our defensive issues. 9 times out of 10, Lee and Izturius are sound as a pound out there. Barrett's issues are the ones out of what happened today that would have me actually worried.
  11. Is this turning into a running gag? What? Typing dominate instead of dominant. What's the difference? Grammar. "Dominate" is a verb. "Dominant" is an adjective. The initial post used "dominate" as an adjective. I know. I'm just playing around. I like to piss off grammar snobs. It's being a "snob" to just understand basic grammar? Come on.

  13. Now they are saying 45 tomorrow. Anything above 40 is fine by me... That's better than last year's opening day. I think with the wind it was nibbling the upper 20's. 45 is gonna feel like summer.
  14. Cubs didn't walk anyone tonight...VERY nice.
  15. I like how after Jacque scores Len says, "and Aramis is right behind him," and they cut to the camera shot and Aramis is nowhere near the plate and totally out of the shot. Good decision to switch in Theriot. He makes that great slide with his speed and he gets some playing time in the OF with a comfy lead. Me likee Floyd. I don't mind Murton sitting if this is what we get.
  16. That showed a LOT. Way to keep your head, Rich.
  17. ARam was wearing it...couldn't you see him struggling to hold his glove up? Huh? You mean Izturis? Aramis bobbled his play. Izturius had it chucked way over him.
  18. i disagree with you, the high socks are ugly wether its wearing them right or not You baffle me, sir.
  19. Rich Hill is worse than Hitler.
