  1. I try to be open minded, but I just can't handle that. Do they make you cry?
  2. So is Ward actually injured or were they just making room for Pie? Sucks either way...Ward has been the first decent regular pinch hitter for the Cubs that I can remember in, well, a REALLY long time.
  3. You win. Soriano's spot in the order is not the problem, or even a problem at all. And moving him in the order to put Pie of all people in the leadoff spot would be an awful decision. No one (at least not me) is saying Soriano's spot in the order is a problem. It's just that we have another player (Theriot) that most likely can get on base as much as Soriano. It's a waste of resources to have a guy with his power potential batting leadoff. He doesn't hit as well when not hitting leadoff.
  4. I'd love to see him hitting 5th. I don't understand everyone insisting he should be batting leadoff. The team is not winning with him batting leadoff and I seriously doubt they would be any worse if he moved to 5th. Theriot batting leadoff with Murton 2nd followed by Lee, Aram, and Soriano. It has possibilities. Do something, anything. The status quo is not working. He's a better hitter hitting leadoff. Maybe it's a mental thing...
  5. I'm really not sure why that would happen. It's clear the Cubs promised him he could hit leadoff, and his career stats indicate he's better batting leadoff. They aren't losing because Soriano is batting leadoff...though his lack of power isn't helping. But it's not like that lack of power is going to vanish if he moves around.
  6. Dammit, I was almost right.
  7. Don't be ridiculous. There is no end to the ways the worst organization in the history of human civilization can embarass itself and its fans. The next step...players fighting fans.
  8. Barrett and Zambrano would still be emotional and mental midgets despite the apparently magical and godlike presence of Joe -freakin'-Girardi.
  9. Quite frankly, I don't care who started it. This is just flat out embarassing. These guys should be ashamed for acting like that in the middle of a game.
  10. I really would like to think that with all the recent drama and getting swept by the Fish and screwing up basic baseball fundamentals and just generally being crappy, the Cubs come out of this off day having had some kind of revelation and really buckle down and play some damn good baseball, at least for a couple of weeks. That said, however, I am a Cubs fan, and sadly, I know better.
  11. Two chicks at the same time, man.
  12. Lou Piniella also sounded like Mr. Perfect before the regular season. Maybe for some... I never bought into it and I know a lot of other fans in the same position as me. He is/was a million years ahead of Dusty though Agreed on that first part. There were a LOT of reservations about Lou on this site and many others.
  13. Bob is sounding like an infinitely better manager option right now.
  14. The Marlins are likely going to win another WS within the next 5 years. The Cubs are likely to not.
  15. You consistently make no sense. He's got a 1.61 era w a .207 baa. What share of bad outings are you talking about? Every pitcher is gonna give up SOME runs. I didn't know his numbers were that good. I think I've just happened to see all of his crappy outings this year and they're sticking out. That said, I don't know how I "consistently make no sense." Are my posts difficult to read or written in code?
  16. HAW-HAW. Wuertz is dogmeat, just like the rest.
  17. Very nice play on that bunt by Lee to get the runner at 3rd.
  18. OK, I've liked a lot of what Wuertz can do, but can people stop screaming like he's miles beyond the rest of the bullpen? He's decent, but he's had his share of crappy outings like a lot of the others this year.
  19. Hey, nice little flare of power for The Riot!
