  1. That's not a fact. Not even close.
  2. I was ready to make him the closer before tonight. Forget the interim tag. Then you'd be taking him out of too many spots where he'd be much more useful. More often than not, the closer isn't pitching in the toughest relief spots.
  3. No, all of you do. You're kidding, right?
  4. Ok. Did you miss my point? Theriot is 27 years old. When he was the same age as Cedeno, he was plying his trade in single A. Cedeno was 23 last season when you said he sucked, yet Theriot is just having growing pains. If anything, the opposite is true. Theriot at 27 is likely at his peak, since most players begin their peak at 27. His peak is below average. Cedeno didn't perform last year. That is true, but he was 23 years old. What Cedeno is hitting at AAA, Theriot hasn't approached at any level. So, if Theriot is experiencing growing pains, then Cedeno is too. Are you really this dense, or do you just get a hard on for a player and can't see the truth? They have relatively the same ML experience. And...? Cedeno had his ML experience at a MUCH younger age than Theriot. Why isn't Cedeno just having "growing pains?" Cedeno has also put up better minor league numbers. Again, why is Theriot going through "growing pains" despite his mediocre minor league career and limited ML success, but Cedeno is "just bad" even though he's a better minor leaguer and also had short lived ML success?
  5. Never tell me the odds.
  6. Murton is playing RF in the minors. How has he been doing? Team League AVG G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SBCSOBPSLGOPS IOW PCL .305 16 59 15 18 7 0 1 7 28 8 7 1 0 .406 .475 .880 Nice! How about defensively?
  7. When I was still living in DC, I've seen all the Cubs games there up until this point. Last year, however, wasn't so much fun when they showed up and got swept. The only bright spot was Aramis jacking out home runs like the park was the tiniest in the league.
  8. Neifi was a demigod with a bat for almost a solid month. Yuck.
  9. Murton is playing RF in the minors. How has he been doing?
  10. Thanks for the bigger version! Not to sound ungrateful, but I've seen smaller versions that are significantly brighter. Anyone else seen that, but larger?
  11. ...when he's coming home after the game winner and Soriano is showing off the incredible vertical leap with the rest of the team behind him? The ones posted so far stretch to a decent computer desktop, but I'm curious if anyone found a bigger version. I've also seen versions slightly smaller that are clearly much brighter. What are the best and largest versions everyone has found?
  12. One game does not a starting player make. That said, his plate appearances and swing did look sharper this time than it has recently, and Lou talked about that as well after the game. That said, even with an improved appearance, barring a total miracle, he's simply not an everyday answer at SS or 2nd. And as for Murton...he looked so brutal defensively in RF. Is he playing LF down in the minors?
  13. I think Eyre is the only one that's "unfortunate" there.
  14. Ending the first half of the season with another 7 game win streak sounds like a good idea to me. Do it to it, Cubs!
  15. I see no reason to make him the closer now. His stuff looks great, but I'd much rather have him where he can be used in potentially more dangerous spots in the 6th-8th innings, especially since he can go 2. It's not like we need to replace Dempster, nor has he played himself out of the spot. I think right now, Marmol makes the 'pen stronger by being available earlier.
  16. Bring on the Gnats! Hopefully being back in RFK gets Sori out of this mini-slump!
  17. I personally like having him in the 7th or 8th, or whenever the tougher situation presents itself. Agreed.
  18. Did you see the first inning? Yeah, when the broken bat flying at him. Does he have a bruise on his cheek? I can't tell if he does or if my TV just sucks.
  19. Its better than it might be. I'm still a little tentative. I think a lot of people (myself included) are still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Thats fine, but its been half a season. He's a 5th starter and worth every bit of the money he's being paid this year. I'm not gonna complain if he keeps doing OK, but isn't he pretty notrious for sliding especially hard in the 2nd half of a season?
  20. Marmol was pure filth that inning. Absolutely nasty. Maybe they're playing it safe with Marquis because of the broken bat incident? Is my TV crappy, or does he have a bruise on his cheek?
  21. Hate the song, but the collection is very impressive. Nicely done...great vid!
