  1. Well, to be fair, it was an outside pitch that struck him out the first time.
  2. Damn Soriano and his giant knob. Wocka-wocka-wocka!
  3. Jacque and Kendall and a fat LFer...UNSTOPPABLE.
  4. Before people go nuts about how bad Cedeno is, please keep this in mind. He's not Izturis. And so long as DeRosa or Murton are batting 2nd instead of him, go for it.
  5. No kidding. He already forced Aramis to swing at some garbage.
  6. Hes just been figured out. He likes to hit the ball to the right for the most part, and thats how their defending him. He could use a day off or 2, or at least a trip down the lineup to 6th or 7th for a few games. Especially in Houston where Cubs offense is tough to come by. I'd like to see DeRosa get more spots at #2.
  7. There is something to be said for not inserting Z into what will be a charged atmosphere here on Friday night. Let him pitch on Thursday in sleepy Houston. With all the energy of the rivalry and the Cards' last chance to stay in the race, I'm afraid Z will fizzle. At the same time, Z's numbers against the Cards are pretty fantastic. Getting him a start against them might help get him locked back in.
  8. When a game is PPD before reaching the 5-inning mark, the whole game is scrapped and started from scratch at a later date. A game is only resumed in progress if it was suspended, not postponed. Why wasn't this game suspended? Because it wasn't yet an official game. Wouldn't a game just be called if it was an official game? A game is only suspended when the home team gives up the lead in the top of the inning after at least 5 full innings have been played and then weather doesn't allow them to have the bottom of the inning to "respond." Z's game never made it through 5 innings, so it essentially doesn't exist.
  9. I listened to part of the game on the radio and it sounded as if the fans were chanting "H-G-H" every time Ankiel stepped to the plate. It doesn't surprise me that a guy who had "mental problems" and suddenly couldn't throw strikes would now buckle under the pressure of the controversy. Yeah, pretty much just boo's and "H-G-H" and "cheeeeeeeeeeaterrrrrrr" a la "Daaaaaaaaarrrrrrryllllll" and then thunderous appluase and cheers when he'd strike out. A lovely symphony.
  10. Ted Lilly...slumpbuster. http://www.sonic.net/~ckelly/Seekay/dana_lilly.jpg HAWT.
  11. How were the fans regarding HGH? Please tell me it was very loud there and they gave him hell Heh, we got there a little before 1, just before the Cardinals started practicing on the field, and as soon as he showed up the bleachers were giving him hell. During the game everyone around me was screaming "H-G-H!!!" in my section for his first 2 AB's...we were the second section back by the end of the Cubs dugout towards the bullpen, so I can only hope a lot of others were doing the same. With his last 2 AB's both of his k's got semi-standing ovations, especially the 4th one. Since this wasn't a series there were a LOT less Cardinals fans than usual, so the atmosphere the whole time was a lot of fun. Yea thats great. It would have been awesome if the fans would have given him one of those standing O's that the Cards fans have been giving him after every single damn HR. It was nice for once being at a Cards/Cubs game at Wrigley where the few breaks the Cards got weren't cheered on by a sizeable crowd. The few hits and runs they got were met with a ton of boos.

  13. Backe is a righty. Thank you, Jeebus.
  14. wasn't that excited about the signing, but ever since spring training and actually getting to watch him pitched I've liked him more and more. He's been like a rock (with a few exceptions) this season.
  15. Seeing Ankiel strike out 4 times tonight in person was so sweet. The bleachers were giving him the business from batting practice onwards, and I was talking to my uncle before the game about how his increasing strikeouts and lack of walks were indicative of how his current swell would likely fall off once everyone "figures him out." I hope this is the start of the end of the "Ankiel era."
  16. Ace or not, I love that Lilly is a Cub.
