  1. Look at his home/away splits: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=greenkh01&year=00#locat-hmvis Get him away from those cavernous ballparks in the NL west and he tends to rake.
  2. DAMN HIS NOT BEING ABLE TO STEAL 40 BASES! With such an integral aspect of the game gone, nay, ROBBED from the Cubs' aresenal, how shall they ever prevail against the forces of baseball darkness? How, I ask you...HOW?!?!? Doom has come to Wrigley's door, and it shan't be stopped. Without the mighty steal at our beck and call, all hope is lost. Woe covers the land.
  3. This can't be accurate. In his limited playing time since the staff were supposedly really working closely with Pie, he's been noticeably better.
  4. It's a lifetime of pain, not just this April. No, he's right. Games in April don't count, so no need to get upset. well, punching anything about sports is borderline psychotic Especially a pillow.
  5. it's ok guys mark prior has perfect mechanics he can handle the work load dusty gives him. It's less than a month into the season. If he's crosses into the serious pitcher abuse rankings like Prior, then it might be comparable. Until then, people seem to forget that a good number of Marmol's innings he only tosses relatively few pitches. It's not like he's going out there every time and throwing 20+ pitches per inning.
  6. It was straight up L/R percentage playing, which I hate. I didn't like hitting for Cedeno, and I really didn't like burning Ward. It worked out (sort of), but I still don't like it. Agreed. They got a run, but Cedeno has been white hot with the bases loaded. I'd rather play those odds than putting Murton up there, or burning the best power option of the bench. Lou and his overmanaging strikes again.
  7. So what was the reason for Cedeno being pinch hit for last night when he was coming up with the bases loaded? Was he having TOO much recent success in that situation for Lou's liking?
  8. Our Pen could use the rest. Yeah, having 2 straight games where the starters go 7 innings is exhausting.
  9. This would be my concern as well. Same here.
  10. Did I miss the note where Marmol was actually revealed to be made of fine china? He came up as a starter. He can handle the work.
  11. Wuertz and Howry always come around, and there's little reason to think they won't. This bullpen doesn't really worry me at all.
  12. Memo to Lou: stop sending Theriot (or pretty much anyone) to steal bases in front of our big hitters. Don't take out Cedeno with the bases loaded. Stop depleting our bench before the game is done. Don't sac bunt when your hitters are DeRosa/Soto/Cedeno. STOP OVERMANAGING.
  13. any team will trade any player to any other team for the right price Yep. I'd want Marmol, Hill, Gallagher and another prospect if I were the Stro's. Marmols out of the question. I dont care whose on the table. Ridiculous. He's a reliever. Relievers should always be considered as part of a trade that upgrades the starting rotation or the lineup. If this Oswat talk wasn't bunk and the Astros wanted Marmol as part of the deal, you damn well add in Marmol.
  14. Glendon Rusch threw that complete game that one time.
  15. I don't think so, unless you are a fantasy owner. Aside from one season, he never stole bases with great efficiency, and his OBP isn't really high enough to make it an issue anyway. He is still fast enough to leg out a lot of doubles, and his XBH are his main asset. If his bat speed goes, that's an issue. I'm much more concerned with what it does to his defense. Great range in left was a major part of his value. It'd have to be a pretty significant loss of speed to drastically reduce his range out there. Plus you've got Pie out there often covering a lot of ground.
  16. Yes, having Soriano and Soto hitting anywhere in the top 5 slots is a horrible, horrible thing and should be avoided at all costs. THINK.
  17. I'm skeptical. I do not like what Soriano brings to the table, and he doesn't get on base enough for me. I hope Lou finds his balls and banishes him to be the best 5-7 hitter in the MLB. I agree. Getting a guy who will hit you 30-40 HR's a year less AB's is exactly what this team needs.
  18. Works for me. He's obviously not going to keep hitting like he did before he went on the DL unless he's still not healthy. Offset it by doing something overdue and making Fuku #2 and Soto #5. That's a fantasmagorical 1-5.
  19. How the hell did that happen?!? WITCHERY.
