  1. Some epic phailing is rocking the house right here.
  2. You & several others are here must be watching a different game than the rest because Soriano clearly has blown as many games as he's won. Hah-hah! Did you just basically say the .710 slugging differs from what you've seen? And exactly how many games has he won or lost? Outside of the blown catch in Pittsburgh (which had zero to do with his legs or his approach at the plate or anything else you just railed on an had everything to do with the FREAKIN' SUN), how can you determine how he ad he alone has actually "won" or "lost" a game?
  3. I HAVE...NO LEGS. I HAVE...NO LEGS. I HAVE...NO LEGS.
  4. probably when he no longer leads all Cubs OF's in HR and RBI Zing. Bottom line is even if the Cubs made a wrong decision on Pie or Rich Hill.......both of those players need to showcase themselves yet again, and put up numbers and get past the negativity and mental collapse they're currently going thru. "Negativity and mental collapse?" What?
  5. Good Lord. This is just... It's like Hendry is swooning over Hank Steinbrenner from afar and thinking, "gee, that's how we should run things!" Awful.
  6. I can only assume at this point that it makes TOO much sense for Lou and Hendry. It's such an obvious move that they automatically don't trust it, and kind of fear it. I never thought of that, but that's the most likely explanation. It's too good to be true - we can't possibly have a great offense with a young guy struggling to adjust to the majors, so it must not be possible, even though logic dictates that our total offense wouldn't suffer if your replaced a horribly-performing vet with a less-horribly-performing young player. I'm ultimately at a loss to explain it. I don't think they're stupid men...surely they can look at stats and see that Felix so far this year would at least match the horrible performances they've gotten from Edmonds and Johnson against RHP. Why is it tolerated out of veterans, but it's completely unacceptable and treated as if it's "hurting the team" if it's a kid learning the ropes who has shown after he adjusts he succeeds at every level so far? There's asbolutely no logical excuse.

  8. Hopefully this will go better than attempting to "fix" the not needing to be fixed Rich Hill.
  9. Um, no. You don't trade your best player or let him walk so somebody else can move to his position. A) Yeah, Lee's our best player, and everybody in baseball knows how good he is. That's why his trade value would be enormous. B) Soriano is not just "somebody else". He's a guy who has about $115M left on his contract. So if a player is owed a lot of money, trade one of he proven anchors of your team to accomodate the expensive player. Yes, I know they'd likely get a decent return, but it seems ridiculous to shake up the team that much by getting rid of one of the core players to. I've yet to see you provide a projection or anything that shows Soriano would be significantly more likely to be more productive offensively or less of a liability defensively if he moved to 1st. This ultimately amounts to you trying to argue addition by subtraction...trading Lee would create a tremendous offenive hole. They're not likely to get an established player back unless it's a pitcher, and the can't afford to trade a proven player for prospects unless they somehow come across another established impact bat in the meantime. I wouldn't do it, but I think some of you are being a little harsh on frostwyrm. It's not unfathomable that trading Lee and moving Soriano to first couldn't improve the team. It would depend on what we got back for Lee, which would undoubtedly be alot. The difference is I wouldn't be influenced to do it because of Soriano's health, I'd do it because someone made me an offer for Lee that I couldn't refuse, and it included a better LF in return. I agree that it's not a hopeless idea...if it looked like the Cub could get someone (through signings or other trades) to help offset the loss of Lee, great. And maybe under new ownrship, that kind of proactive all around thinking will be part of the Cubs...but until then, I don't trust the Cubs for a second to try such an undertaking and not fail miserably.

  11. Which means Lou will make the switch at least a month after he should have...if at all.
  12. Why only the Houston series?
  13. I agree that it was a good pitch to hit, but the completely wrong person in that situation to hit it.
  14. Cubs up 2-1 against the Dodgers in the bottom of the 7th with the bases juiced and 2 outs....Theriot due up...if only he had a SS who has had awesome success with bases loaded this season...if only...
  15. This game reeks of a briefly awake and then comatose Cubs' offense. I hope I'm wrong.
  16. Love it when the entire infield gets in on a rundown.
  17. So I suppose you're a big supporter of frostwyrm's "trade Lee" idea?
