  1. He's the epitome of baseball dinosaurs in his refusal to look at the few games/players he actually pays attention in the context of the game having evolved in the last 30 years.
  2. This post is insane. The first paragraph is testosterone driven junk. Do you have anything on which to back this up? Any evidence of routine 130 pitch games in the good ol days or that having young pitchers throw tons of pitches would "build arm strength" - you know what would be great, if every high school pitcher pitched both ends of a double-header. That would certainly build arm strength, so they should be immune from abuse injuries in the future, right? Posts like the one you're replying to act like the game itself hasn't changed over the years. Mound height, types of hitters, types of pitches...all factors that change how pitchers can approach the game.
  3. I had to do it I don't think I'll ever understand the complete and utter vitriol this board has for that guy It's hardly just this board. Thinking Joe Morgan is a joke as a baseball analyst and as an announcer is practically the new national pastime.
  4. Awful. Horrible. Terrible.
  5. I'm a Cardinal fan and have been since birth. I have alot of Cubbie fan friends. Acutally, the majority of them are Cub fans. With both teams playing well right now, how cool and exciting would a pennet race between these two rivals be? I'm not sure if my blood pressure could take it, but a one game playoff to decide the winner or even better, a game 7 NLCS game, would be amazing. Off topic, I know. Awful, awful ideas. Sorry, nothing aganst you, but I have no desire to see that.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Reds creep back into the race like the Astros did for a bit down the stretch last season. They've got enough weapons that Dusty can only hold them back so much.
  7. You're seeing the ball horribly if you don't at least defensively swing at that.
  8. Dempster would walk the lineup if they would let him. I've been very impressed with Dempster this year, but he's been giving up way too many walks (and a lot of them to crappy teams/batters) all season for it to not eventually bite him hard.
  9. I'm 3-3 this year at Wrigley (losses were Opening Day, the Shawn Estes game, and the first game of the second Milwaukee series). So they are 21-5 when I'm not there. Jeez, we stink. I'm 3-3 myself in the games I've been to this year.
  10. Joe will be in rare form for this game...looking at his comments this season, he basically thinks every team is a sham except for the Red Sox, so he's gonna be on and them some for the Cubs and White Sox if both are still in 1st place.
  11. No kidding. He had a couple of big hits, but I'm not expecting him to turn it around fulltime.
  12. The double play was incredibly shammy. Only a sham closer gets into that situation in the first place. And then a 3rd out flyball? No strikeouts? SHAM.
  13. Damn, I wish we could see Marmol's inning again, or at least just his 3 called strike 3's. Absolutely sick how he locked those guys up.
  14. Good Lord. I left for work with it 9-4 in disgust...then I'm on the train, checking the game on my phone ad the Cubs' score just keeps going up and up. Amazing.
  15. No. Not at all either. I think if the Cubs wanna go far in the playoffs they're going to need to aquire a #2. Most people here have been saying that for most of this season. Lilly isn't this bad, but he's not a "true" #2 that you can hinge your playoffs on with the ace.
