This quote in the article scares the Howry out of me. If Dempster somehow signs elsewhere the "contingency plan" had better be Derek Lowe, AJ Burnett, or get a deal done for Peavy at all costs. Signing Randy Johnson to a one year deal is not a contingency plan. No way we are going to outbid NY for Lowe or Burnett. I agree. But, assuming they get CC, they aren't going to be able to get every decent starter on the market. If they don't get CC, then yes, that makes Hendry's job a whole lot harder. I think they are going after CC and Burnett and/or Lowe. Don't forget they are getting 80 million off the books and a new stadium. They have a ton of cash to burn. Exactly. Even if they didn't have that money coming off the books, they'd still have a ton to spend. The Yankees are going to get whoever opts to accept their deals.
