  1. I know I'm just repeating myself, but Soto needs to get his [expletive] together, like, yesterday. Hit the treadmill, lay off the junk food and get back into the mix, son.
  2. I want that shot of Scaes in the air as my wallpaper so bad.
  3. That looked devastating.
  4. What level are these guys pitching at? Are any of them above AA at this point? We should probably not start sucking each other's lollipops just yet.
  5. Gathright traded to Baltimore for Freel. How does that free up a spot on the 25-man roster? Freel is technically currently rehabbing in the minors.
  6. Put Theriot, Johnson and Freel on the field at the same time and watch the grit fly. Meph would approve of this trade. Because he's happy the Cubs got rid of one of those people?
  7. That's happening with almost every American city.
  8. I'll give you one thing, sulley. No one on here can just make up stuff and use hyperbole like you can. Add that to your unmatched skills of self-pity when it comes to your teams and unique ability to constantly whine about officiating and horrible luck in the face of any factual evidence or sound reasoning. hey, attack the post not the poster! now, how about some iowa hoops? Nah I'd rather not. There's not much to discuss this year. I'd rather discuss how Illinois football and basketball as well as the Bears have never gotten a good bounce in your lifetime. Or how they're the victims of a conspiracy by the officials every single game. It truly is fascinating. If it's so boring to you then why waste your time in a Bears thread?
  9. Have you been to LA since they got Manny? He is like a living legand in LA right now. I think he's bigger than Kobe in that town right now. That's exactly what I am bitching about. It's ridiculous. Manny is still more of a Red Sox icon than anything, hell, I identify him more with Cleveland than L.A. It would be like having called Brett Favre a Jets icon last season. Except Favre sucked and Manny arguably singlehandedly took them to the playoffs. Regardless, Manny has been a Dodger for about less than one season of a 16 year career. I heard some Dodgers fans say they thought today was the darkest day in their baseball following lives. Are [expletive] kidding me? I think Red Sox and Cleveland fans should be more upset, wondering if the years of Manny they got (all the best of his career, BTW) were legit. Leave it to Angelenos to lay claim to a player whose legacy has so little to do with them, their city or their team. Who cares if they love Manny? They haven't had a lot of big time players to glom onto on that team for a long time. It makes perfect sense why he'd be so popular there in such a short amount of time. I don't know why we're supposed to begrudge a fanbase for loving a superstar.

  11. Someone in the game thread tonight posted a report that he heard that said that Soto is more hurt than the Cubs are letting on, and to not expect 2008 numbers from him this year at all. At this point, I'm not expecting anything remotely close. I'd be happy with .260/.330/.450 at this point. He's still a pretty good catcher behind the plate. People have to remember that after May 18th of last year, his stat line for the rest of the year was .269/.336/.459/.795. This is more likely the type of pro Geovany Soto will be, not the Geo that lit up the NL in April 2008 before pitchers figured out how to pitch him. I haven't been expecting superstar Soto. I'd settle for a tolerable Soto at this point. He's got to shed the blubber.
  12. OK, let's officially declare the Chad Fox ride over forever.
  13. Wasnt Henry Blanco his mentor last year, keeping him in line and in shape? Maybe for that reason alone, we could have given Hank another year or 2. God knows Lou doesnt care much for Koyie. I don't know how much Blanco had to do with Geo's fitness routine, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Geo is slumping this bad and having nagging health issues since obviously putting on weight. Losing weight seemed to drastically change his game for the better, so it seems like a no-brainer.
  14. Geovanny Soto is useless until he stops being fat.
  15. Theriot doubled to LF. Fuku popped out to LF for the 1st out.
  16. Gameday crapped out. I'm assuming Gathright sucked and then Sori went yard? Gathright is hitting for Bradley. Miles walked for the pitcher and then Sori crushed one.
  17. Good God. When he gets a hold of one, the massive power Soriano effortlessly displays is fantastic.
