  1. One of these days you will finally understand that this is not a good team.
  2. Oh he's turrible now. So why would they opt to re-sign him instead of going after the other FA's? For the same reason they signed a slightly above average Luol Deng to $70 million. I don't want them to get sign McGrady, but I wouldn't put it past the Bulls. I would, because it would require him to outplay the FA's available. He won't. Quite frankly, it's a stupid conclusion to think that such a scenario is likely to happen.

  4. You do realize how bad he's been, right?
  5. What the [expletive] are you talking about? What are the wrong reasons for wanting expiring contracts and draft picks?
  6. Get fucked.
  7. I hope Geo isn't dying: http://www.boysofspring.com/journal/4366089598_40e3273f18%5B1%5D.jpg A better SS even at his age than Goatee McTinygreed is right now: http://www.boysofspring.com/journal/4365336171_8a45011772%5B1%5D.jpg
  8. ... Think about it for 2 seconds. It has nothing to do with what anyone thinks he can still do as a player. I assume you are talking about an expiring contract. But what are the chances that the Bulls don't actually end up signing a good free agent and then just go ahead and resign McGrady in the offseason if they make a trade? That would scare me if I were a fan and they were talking about trading for such a guy. There's a million things the Bulls could do stupidly in the offseason. Right now I want them to just dump contracts. I highly doubt they'll resign McGrady given his obvious decline and how shittily he'll probably play the rest of this year. Yeah, the Bulls are run by morons, but McGrady would have to have a pretty incredible turnaround for the front office to look at him as opposed to all the other much better names that are going to be out there.

  10. They can easily "suck" for the rest of year. It's not like one of the top FA's will opt to not sign here because the middling talents of Salmons and Hinirch and co. are gone and helped keep the Bulls barely afloat. The better FA's will realize, "hmmm, I'm an amazing player...they have an amazing player in Rose...then they have two good role players in Deng and Noah...and they're likely sign someone else to bolster everything up." That's plenty to work with and very appealing with a big pile of money.
  11. Probably not too much of a drop. It might be as huge as it was when both WGN and the number of Cubs' games they showed were at their national peak, but Chicago is still a major city and you have a ton of established Cubs fans out there that are going to pass that on to their kids if they haven't already. Between being able to watch them on their own network and listening to the games through things like satellite radio, you're not likely to see too huge a dropoff in terms of the Cubs being a national team.
  12. Jesus Christ, going from the Yankees to the Nationals is brutal.
  13. It's not like we have awesome OF prospects who are sure to be highly productive in a 2-week bench stint. Dubois has had marginal ML success in the past and isn't a butcher in the field (to my knowledge) so bringing him up for a short stint due to an injury would be ok. There are preferable options, I'm sure, but not significantly so (unless I'm forgetting somebody). If Hoff doesn't make the 25 there's a much better option right there.
  14. I can't wait until next year.
  15. He's had nagging injuries the last several seasons (note how often he's had to DH since going to the Yankees) and now he's on the wrong side of 35, much less 30. Given that he's an outfielder, and not a very good one, that makes him not the best option for an NL team with a limited payroll at the moment unless he was willing to come REALLY cheap and accept a bench role.
  16. Why would Dubois get those starts over Nady?
  17. It's cliche, but if the Yankees are determined to get him they will.
  18. I don't think that analogy works at all. Thomas truly is a singular case from that era given his insistence on being tested. What other player was out there demanding such a thing, especially year after year for over a decade? I think it truly would be shocking for a player that open about putting himself and his reputation out there for so many years. This isn't like guys pleading the 5th or saying "no comment." It's not like Palmero. This is someone who was putting it all out there for anyone who wanted to see. It would be one thing if he had just repeatedly stated that he didn't use PEDs and that was it, but he went well beyond that. No other player put themselves in that position. The key to me is that he started insisting upon it well before steroids were a major issue. Exactly. It wasn't matter of desperation and general douchebaggery like with Canseco. It wasn't like he had his back up against the wall like the guys called before Congress or when the media finally started grilling players. He was talking about this well before it was really on anyone's radar. I think it goes to show just how pervasive it was if he was determined to make sure people knew that he wasn't a part of it. If it was just a relative few using I doubt he'd have done and said what he did, nor would we be where we are today.

  20. Between this and his slam dunk contest idea, da Bum is killing it today.
  21. Damon is a huge injury and defensive liability at this point. And Granderson is pretty much a platoon CF at this point in his career. So you take the good with the flaws. damon's issues are much bigger than granderson not being able to hit lefties Maybe, maybe not, but for one year I would tolerate Damon's issues, especially considering that got a really solid deal for Granderson. What the hell does Granderson have to do with the idea that Hendry should have waited to try and sign Damon?

  23. And no results have been posted except for a few names that were leaked. Again, I'm not saying he used, I'm just saying that nobody knows anything about the results. That would be an incredibly bizarre scenario if he was demanding that he be tested each year will using anything he shouldn't have been. I think we'd be letting the paranoid and melodramatic attitude towards steroids in baseball reach new heights of ridiculousness if we act like such a sceanrio is likely.
  24. He wasn't just outspoken: he insisted on being tested every year for over a decade.
  25. Yeah, I remember that being reported on the radio like it was a done deal. I was on my way up to Wisconsin with the family for vacation and I remember spending the entire trip bummed out because I figured Pippen was gone and he was my guy on the Bulls (besides the obvious).
