  1. I love the ridiculous nature of scoring in Arizona. I think you'd only be safe if you had at least a 15-run lead.
  2. Like those flyballs that all would have been hits if they hadn't been caught.
  3. Get out of the way when the 'Dome is coming through.
  4. [expletive], stop giving everyone false hope, Theriot. You're a terrible option to hit #1.
  5. If he looks this bad for the remainder of ST, I could see them eating whatever they owe him and letting him walk. Id rather give the kids a chance than keeping someone that bad around. I dont want to base a decision on a guy off of 1 cactus league game, but the guy looked flat out awful out there. I think you can make a pretty solid decision about him. You know what he can and can't do, and he's shown up and seemingly showed little interest in working on his pitches or his weight. It's tremendously unlikely he's going to stop sucking.
  6. Proven Major Leaguer, imo Hey man, sometimes you just gotta go to the veteran.
  7. Ahhhhh, it's like Marmol is cleansing our palettes.
  8. Best thing about Silva is it's not even like he's a guy people are likely to enjoy having around since he was actively formenting dissent in the Seattle clubhouse against Ichiro, so he literally brings NOTHING to the team.
  9. I'm sorry, but nobody will ever convince me that Bradley would be a more detrimental "clubhouse cancer" over a pitcher THIS bad.
  10. Santo chipped his tooth on a cheese pizza...the broadcasting team is falling apart.
  11. If Calero is on the mound, he's damn likely to be good. Still a crapshoot. Just use what you have.
  12. Jeez, I forgot that Guzman's brother was killed a couple months ago. What a brutal year for him and his family. Poor guy.
  13. Wait, wait, wait...are people really slamming Hendry for getting a bad pitcher in Silva? Everyone knew he sucks. The reasons for getting him are obvious.
  14. The Cubs are no match for the amazing speed of Andruw Jones. PS - I really hope Silva looks this shitty all spring. He shouldn't even sniff the starting rotation.
  15. Ugh, Silva is so fat. I never understand when a starting pitcher lets themselves get that sloppy.
  16. Who cares if they're a veteran? That means nothing. If they're available right now they stink.
  17. Nobody. Absolutely no one. Complete waste of money at any amount.
  18. Why? If they're available now and for cheap it's because they suck. What is the point of shelling out that money, relatively little as it may be, to take a chance on a pile of crap just because he's a veteran? There are no truly quality veterans available on the cheap for the bullpen right now. None. Anyone you're getting that little at this time of the year is nothing but a gamble. Might as well take that gamble on the bevy of arms in the system already that won't cost anything extra. It's false hope to think there's a sure thing reliever just sitting out there right now waiting to be signed.
  19. True. Like I said, in no way am I rooting against Colvin and if he did break out as a starting OFer it would be fantastic...I would just be very surprised if he did.
  20. Sure you can. And it's a pipe dream to think the Cubs could get a reliever you "know will be good" at this point because they're all signed and nobody is trading them right now and even when they do it's for way too much. Plenty of pitching prospects to cyle through the bullpen.
