    that's not really true. his xFIP's with the twins were 4.45, 3.94, 4.81 and 4.54. he was pretty close to league average in 2004 and 2007, above average in 2005 and below average in 2006. it wasn't until he got to seattle that he became truly terrible. It's mainly those WHIPs scaring the crap out of me.

    I agree. It has been firmly established that at least 50% of the 90's list are not good Best Pictures.

    This is very debatable. Yeah, it would be fantastic if Silva somehow figured things out, but it just doesn't seem very likely given his age, the type of pitcher he is and his lack of success in the majors to this point. He's really only got one year where he wasn't terrible, and it's not like that one year sticks out as some impressive feat of what could be (he pitched about 6 games fewer than his other full seasons, and his last couple games that year he was horrendous, so so who knows how that year would look with at least 5-6 more starts). Yes, it would be great if he could get back to those 2005 levels. It's just very unlikely.

    Actually I expect people to offer something more then the above. But at least I don't embarrass myself like you so often do and have done in this thread. Why are you so Angry? Do you need a hug? This is getting creepy. I'm also not sure how I "embarassed" myself in this thread simply because I don't agree with your declaration that all of the movies that won Best Picture in the 90's are better than the ones that did in the 00's.

    I said why I don't think they belong on the list in terms of arguing how the films in the 90's were so much better. To me both films are ridiculously over the top and basically little more than silly cartoons in their respective genres. Both are entertaining and, like I said, I don't think they're bad films, but I don't see how they prove that movies were better in the 90's. One relies on an absurd, comic book-esque super villain who's just an excuse for Hopkins to chew the scenery like someone starving to death and the other has the emotional depth of a Hallmark Card. Of course a ton of people are going to love movies like that. It doesn't actually make them great. Unclench and stop expecting people to agree with you, you freak. You really think everyone is going to agree when you basically say something like how Driving Miss Daisy is "arguably better than most, if not all, of the films of the '00."

Do you actually think guys have no idea how to do things like drag bunt or shorten their swing until they encounter a hitting coach in the majors? What the [expletive] do you think a hitting coach in the majors does?

    Silence of the Lambs simply is not a great film. It's not bad, but it's pretty ridiculous and cartoon-y. Hell, I'd describe Forrest Gump the same way.

    If Soriano and Soto bounce back I assume they'll move up in the lineup since keeping them behind Byrd at that point would be beyond moronic.

    What the [expletive] are you babbling about? Pujols in Sept./Oct.: .357 .440 .616 1.056 Pujols in August: .319 .443 .649 1.092 If they ended up trading Pujols it's not going to be only for a vastly overrated and hugely flawed slugger whose contract is up at the same time.

    They don't have to do such a thing, but there's pretty much no chance they would trade Theriot and not callup Castro. I know, and it's annoying. The more things change...

    I don't understand why it's often approached on this board like the Cubs must bring Castro up if Theriot is traded. Why can't they trade Theriot and keep Castro in the minors? I'd happily take starting a combo of Blanco/Barney if it meant getting a good return for Theriot (ideally prospect(s)). It's not like they can't eat the crappy production from SS if it means building for the future. This isn't exactly a team that peple are expecting great things from.

    Why would the Cards do this? The only reasoning I can think of is that some kind of understanding has already been established between the organization and Pujols as to what he's going to want to re-sign with them and they're simply not going to pay it, even though that seems ridiculous given what he means to that team. How long is Howard signed for? How does this make any sense?
