  1. Wow. Great AB by Soriano. Time to be the hero, Blake.
  2. Then you're not watching a lot of baseball. A 2% chance of making a catch diving into the wall is still chance. Most guys opt not to take that chance.
  3. Christ, you know your pitching is worthless if you give up 10 runs to the [expletive] Giants. WALL FACTOR IN PLAY.
  4. Bah. Davis is this close to farting this game away.
  5. That's what I was thinking also. You could feel the silence fall over the game thread during that AB. I was praying harder for a HR in that Pena AB than I have watching any other game.
  6. He couldn't help but see the wall as he was running for 2B and automatically started slowing down.
  7. Come on, Cubs. The stakes actually matter today.
  8. ha! I'd be surprised if the Cubs got to 6 Because you're you. Because the 2011 Cubs are the 2011 Cubs And they've scored 6 or more runs like a dozen times or more and are beating the hell out of the ball today, so just stop. If you're so convinced just stop paying attention.
  9. ha! I'd be surprised if the Cubs got to 6 Because you're you.
  10. Damn, Davis is garbage. The Giants typically can't score runs to save their lives.
  11. Jesus Christ, Soriano got within 20 feet of the wall?!? How did he not [expletive] his pants from fear?!?
  12. Only AB that has really looked poor was Campana's. Thank God he's hitting #2.
  13. I like how incredulous and amused Len sounded as Hill's HR was creeping out.
  14. Jesus, I really feel good about the Cubs taking this one. Both Soriano and Fukudome clubbed the hell out of the ball and just missed HR themselves.
  15. This nonsense. Outfielders pull up short of the wall all the time, more often than not. And there's another option: c) Crash into the wall, missing the catch, possibly giving the runner an extra base. There's no way to know the ratio, but I'd bet the catch is missed when crashing into the wall just as often as it is made. Soriano is absolutely brutal around the wall and he loafs quite a bit, but the notion that "just about every other OF" will crash into the wall when given the chance is utter hogwash contrived to make him seem even worse. Yeah, I was wondering what game dave had been watching. Sounds pretty thrilling. Those guys probably practice bunting every day, too.
  16. I remember they had this debate on MLB network when there was a rumor, and Mitch Williams said he would hesitate to trade Howard for Pujols straight up. Of course, Williams is a moron, but still. I initially read that as "Mitch Richmond" and was really confused as to why they were talking to him on the MLB Network.
  17. Just to break it down, let's pretend that Campana replicated Pierre's seasons for the ages of 26 and 27. Pierre when he was 26: .326 .374 .407 .781 Nice. Managed 12 triples and to tie his whopping career high of 3 HR in a season! He stole 45 bases but was CS, however, 24 times. Age 27: .276 .326 .354 .680 Ouch. 57 steals and 17 CS.
  18. I don't know many Phillies fans, but this friend of mine is just like that in regards to Howard and Pujols. When the rumors about the Howard for Pujols trade came up last year he thought the Cardinals would have to kick him in more and "no way" would he trade the two of them straight up. He would, however, have traded Howard for Holliday. Go figure.
