  1. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
  2. Better coaching is about all they should attempt. My concern is that it's going to be a focus as to what kind of FA they will sign, much like their faulty quests to get "more left-handed" and "more speed" and, ironically, "guys who can catch the ball." If Hendry is still around you can bet we will have something stupid that we chase all offseason. I wonder if Jim gets we lost that game because of the three walks? That, and yet again struggling mightily with runners in scoring position and less than 2 outs. In no way am I saying defense doesn't matter, but I really can see this season being blamed on poor defense and injuries instead of recognizing/admitting it was simply a bad team. I definitely want Hendry nowhere near the team after the season is through so we can hopefully avoid such a mess.
  3. I'm Bryce Harper.
  4. Meh, it's not like I was getting anything out of my top spot with Dunn.

  6. wut? When Quade finally pulled Wood he barely got a smattering of boos, despite reloading the bases and giving up 2 more runs himself. There's a pretty clear distinction between who gets really booed at Wrigley and who doesn't. [expletive] white players rarely get anything close to what the non-white ones get when they [expletive] up. Marmol stunk, got booed. There were cheers as soon as the bullpen got up. Marmol departed to heavy booing after turning a near-certain win into a probable loss. Wood got cheered. When his control problems became evident, he got booed too. When Russell was on his way in, there were light cheers before Wood exited under light boos, after the probable loss became a near-certain loss. Marmol got the heavy reaction, because he was the one who was leaving when fans were getting it out of their system that they just had a win snatched out from in front of them. By the time Wood was done stinking it up, the seats were considerably more empty, accounting for the mere "smattering" of boos. The season-long apathy didn't take long to set in. Fans have been doing this all season. But you're right, it's racism. That stadium was jam packed full of meatball racists. I'm surprised no one was cheering when Marmol gave up those runs, because at least he has the courtesy to stink before the trade deadline and give all those meatballs the hope that one more brown guy can get out of town. Maybe we can package him together with Castro and pry Theriot away from the Cards. Maybe that will please those stupid racist meatheads whose expressions of disdain for the team doesn't remain constant regardless of the situation or context. Please. I'm glad you can see it, too. I appreciate the pleading for reason and sanity in the face of such ugliness, and stand behind you in this. PS: The "empty seats" argument is load of horse [expletive]. Most of the people who were there when Marmol left the game were still there when Wood left. Feel free to find clips showing otherwise. There would have to be about 1000 people left to account for the difference between the two.
  7. According to Kaplan the focus should be on Marmol not backing up Soto behind the plate after the double was hit. I'm really getting nervous that the defense is going to be one of the major focuses/excuses when planning for next year. No, I'm not excusing their crappy defense, but they have more important things to be looking at when rebuilding this team.
  8. I don't give a flying [expletive] what a player's history is. If they come in and completely [expletive] up then that's when people SHOULD boo. Booing a player regardless of history is the definition of being a meat head. If Aramis came into tonight and left 8 men on base with 3 strike outs should he get booed despite absolutely destroying the ball the last month? If Marmol got hit around he wouldn't have been booed near as bad. When you walk 4 of the 5 batters you face, that's when people get pissed off. Oh, good point; Wood only fucked up slightly less than Marmol did. And yes, history should be irrelevant. Irrationally booing a player because of the money they make or whatever garbage people use to justify booing Soriano every time he makes an out is the epitome of meathead. Booing is inherently a meathead move, but it's an in the moment meathead move. Boo what happened because it was a big deal right then and there in the context of that game. Yes, if your cleanup guy strands that many guys and has at least a hat trick of K's at the plate he should be booed during that game. When your closer tanks a save you boo him. When the guy who replaces him comes in and is almost as bad you boo him, too.
  9. I don't give a flying [expletive] what a player's history is. If they come in and completely [expletive] up then that's when people SHOULD boo. If you boo for a non-white guy then affirmative action requires you equally boo a white guy later in the game. How about just booing people when they [expletive] up royally?
  10. Red Sox fans like to pretend they're not racist because they love Big Papi, too. Stellar start to the 2nd half, Cubs.

There's a pretty clear distinction between who gets really booed at Wrigley and who doesn't. [expletive] white players rarely get anything close to what the non-white ones get when they [expletive] up. Regardless of skin color, Kerry Wood has given Cubs fans a lot more reasons to unconditionally love him. Really don't give a [expletive]. When someone is awful they should get booed if the fans are going to pull that, and Wood was horrible. And it's not just players like Wood. If you're white you get a pass 9 times out of 10 with the Wrigley faithful even if you're garbage most of time. Hot piles of waste like Hill and Theriot and DeWitt get a fraction of the booing certain other players get.
  13. That's why I said the DL is the only option.
  14. wut? When Quade finally pulled Wood he barely got a smattering of boos, despite reloading the bases and giving up 2 more runs himself. There's a pretty clear distinction between who gets really booed at Wrigley and who doesn't. Shitty white players rarely get anything close to what the non-white ones get when they [expletive] up.
  15. I think you have to either sell Marmol or DL him at this point. Has to be DL. Trading him now is going to be at his least valuable, easily. DL him, hope he can come back strong to finish the year and move him in the offseason. DL preferably, but one or the other. If the Cubs keep running him out there, his value can go a lot lower. No, DL is really the only option right now. Trading him right now would be insanely stupid unless a team approaches the Cubs with a good offer, because they're not going to find [expletive] if they shop him.
  16. Yeah, don't boo Wood, you [expletive] morons. He's white, so it's not his fault. [expletive] meatballs.
  17. Haven't they both been pretty bad recently? Wood's been pretty up and down all season. Marshall seemed to be tiring heading into the break, but before that was pretty incredible. Just one game, but he looked really good tonight. Hopefully he just needed the break.

  19. Garza really needs to be allowed to take a bat to somebody's boombox tonight.
  20. Just for shits and giggles, let's remember that Marmol is getting just under $17 million from the Cubs over the next two seasons.
  21. Yeah, great job dishing out a fat contract to a reliever yet again.
  22. That was on Barney. I agree. I still expect to see Hill.
