  1. HERBIE Hancock.
  2. I am a being of joy.
  3. It's not even an issue of being right or wrong; just how entertaining it is to see you jump around.
  4. I can't believe I'm gaining ground despite having no #1 for like two months.
  5. Yeah the reality is that we're posting on message boards and he's had a long-time career on many levels of baseball, but in you go ahead and keep believing that you're smarter than he is and he's just been lucky all of his life. At least I understand that this message board is for entertainment purposes. It's a shame that you really believe that the fact that you post every 30 seconds somehow makes you smarter than the rest of the world. "My God," he thought, "it's dumb as [expletive] in here."
  6. I give Kyle until Labor Day to keep this up, if that.
  7. LULZ at the master of the multi-team trade planting himself in the corner by lecturing people for daring to think they can think on the level of MLB GM's.
  8. Reality states otherwise.
  9. Tell us how relief pitchers work next, Gran'pa!
  10. No it won't.
  11. Bueno. Stupid NL being stupid and still not having a DH.
  12. He's pretty unremarkable in the booth, but the alternatives could easily be a LOT worse, so I guess it's cool he's sticking around. I couldn't imagine someone hiring him as a manager at this point; it's been nearly a decade since he was last working as one, and it doesn't seem like his rep from that single stint is all that great.
  13. [Wayne Brady]Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.[/Wayne Brady] You want a contribution? jumbo is right, and only terrible posters are agreeing with him.

  15. Kyle's waffling-sense is probably going insane the last few days.
  16. Why?
  17. Ha - I suppose that sooner or later one of the insults hurled at him is funny. I just find it absurd that he's universally recognized as the board punching bag and 1) he keeps coming back and 2) people keep reading. Yeah, because if people say bad things about you, you should just run away and cry and never show your face again. He can be here all he wants, as far as I'm concerned. If someone doesn't like a poster, they should, oh, I don't know.... USE THEIR IGNORE FEATURE, or shut the hell up about it because it can't be that bad if you're completely unwilling to act. I do use the feature. It's been discussed elsewhere recently. It's funny that you'd tell me to shut the hell up in a comment defending someone's else right to post whatever they want. No big deal - not looking for an argument. The most telling thing is that the two posters to jump all over you over this have been Theo and erik. Keep on keepin' on.
  18. The local media contract ends after the 2013 season. The new deal will likely eclipse the Yankees contract. Texas just got about 150 mil a year (and the Angels a bit more), the Dodgers should be worth at least twice that. So the new owners are just trying to pump up interest before negotiations. note: The Cubs receive about 50 mil a year from WGN and CSN. Though the WGN contract ends 2014, the CSN contract doesn't until after 2019. I wonder if the Cubs will even have any interest in working a new deal with WGN now that the Tribsters aren't involved in ownership. Why? The Tribune company still owns WGN, and a new TV deal should be beholden to the Cubs first, not the network. If they have to stay in partnership I'd prefer it be Comcast since the Ricketts own a 20% stake in Comcast Sportsnet Chicago.
  19. He's on my shot list too I'm pretty indifferent to the guy, but I'm surprised at the number of people here who talk about him like he's likely to be anything more than a backup. I've seen posts where people think he could be a starter or even could be a valuable trading chip.
  20. Hanley (28) has looked like his old self since coming to the Dodgers, Crawford (31) was as well when healthy this year. A Gon's (30) has been pretty huge as well, and a change from the AL East to the NL West could be huge, assuming that he can stay healthy. With the possible exception of Beckett, and he's only 31-32, it's not like these are a bunch of over the hill, declining players heading off to die. These guys should dominate the NL for the next 3-5 years. Of course the same was said about the Phillies not too long ago. Why would moving to the NL West help AGone? I won't help him. If anything, it'll hurt him, for a number of clear reasons. Saying it will help him was ignorant at best. I actually very much meant Beckett there. Which is true for obvious reasons. Lies.
  21. Stop saying Jimbo.
  22. This is the last year of Zambrano. Not sure if he's counting that. But yeah, this team isn't filled with large contracts like the national media will probably continue to say it is this winter. Even if he is counting it his idea that they weren't serious about trying to sign someone like Cespedes is undercut by how little money they have locked up going forward from this year and how they doled out cash to Soler and Castro. If that's the case why isn't Cespedes a Cub? Because apparently they didn't want to sign him for only 4 years.

  24. Evan Longoria says you can put "almost" in. Evan Longoria's "star player" contract doesn't exist yet. When it does he almost certainly will not be worth all of it.
