You are aware that there are 29 other teams right? Landing 1/3 of the targets when you're one of thirty teams is hardly something to be upset over. If Puig doesn't take less money to go to the Dodgers that's half of the targets which is pretty ridiculous. 29 other teams aren't realistically looking to sign these guys, so that's a false point right there. It's just disappointing. They're relatively handcuffed by the new CBA agreement, so I was hoping that international signings were going to be an area where they were going to go nuts and make sure things get done because it's an area where you can ideally kill two birds with one stone and infuse the organization with young talent and get better quicker. No, I wasn't expecting them to get everyone, but I was expecting them to get at least one more of the highly touted guys besides Soler. And if it's also coming down to players simply choosing to not come to the Cubs (Cespedes, Puig), well, I'm not sure how that's really supposed to make anyone feel better.
