  1. YEAH, JUST FEELS LIKE ONE OF THOSE GAMES, YOU SAD SACK MOTHER [expletive].
  2. The ref was watching the entire damn thing.
  3. NO, IT'S [expletive] NOT.
  4. Can't we wish for a TE that's actually good instead of less bad?
  5. Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to see the Bears make the playoffs.
  6. How could that possibly be just you.
  7. There shouldn't be a question as to whether or not to trade him at this point unless a team is offering you something insane. And you're just too hooked on the projections. Worrying that the 22-year-old won't go into beast mode because his age 22 season wasn't gangbusters seems...faulty.
  8. It's a real smorgasbord. Mainly though it's that I don't think half a season at age 22 has all that much impact as to whether he's HOF player or, laughably, Cabrera. I'm mostly amused by how much stock you seem to be placing in it.
  9. I can't; the projections are giving me the night terrors.
  10. Yes, we're talking about the accomplishment of being one of the most popular sports writers in America, which is a field of garbage, and that popularity is based out of his terrible writing, because most fans of sports writing are meatballs. I don't care how much money or fame he's made off of it; there's a guy somewhere who is the most successful portable toilet emptier, too. Whoopty [expletive] doo.
  11. I agree on really regretting Cespedes (and Puig). Also, please point out anywhere I've blamed anything on the posting system. You haven't, but it continually comes up as a caveat when others have accused me of wanting to "sign everyone." Honestly, my tune would be completely different if they had only one more signing in Cespedes or even Puig. I'm not expecting a perfect track record; I'm just expecting/hoping for them to be able to get it done when it's most critical and most doable (Cespdes, and to a lesser extent, Puig). I'd be perfectly fine with them never getting a single blind bid so long as they don't get outdone by the [expletive] A's.
  12. Again: wanting more success in an area is not automatically akin to "signing everyone." And Cespdes was the biggest miss, so you can't blame that one on blind bids or the Rangers and the Dodgers.
  13. And the projections; my God, how it hurt the projections.
  14. I explained it on the previous page; Ryu is by no means a dealbreaker, but he is unfortunately indicative of a pattern of disappointment in an area (international FA signings) that is critical to the Cubs both improving in the short run and for the future. If you want to subtract the blind bids from that equation, fine; only one of those missed bids really hurts, but only ending up with Soler (as the only IFA singing of real import) thus far isn't a ringing success story. It's a frustrating narrative.
  15. We're weren't talking about business.
  16. Let's praise Nickelback next.
  17. I just hope that we can start spending like the Dodgers, who have nabbed....2 for 6. This is great. So we don't post an absurd amount of money for an unproven pitcher who has also gone against sub par competition. This guy wasn't similarly projected like Darvish and Cespedes. Who cares? Not surprisingly, you're completely missing the point.
  18. Hardly a lofty accomplishment. Look at who the top sports writers are in Chicago. He is of their ilk.
  19. Nope. It's mainly because he's not a very good writer (about anything) and his actual ability to discuss/analyze sports is tremendously simplistic.
  20. What? No. I'm intrigued, what exactly would you expect? You can't seriously think it would be something like Upton+Bauer+ one of Skaggs/Bradley. What would I expect if the Cubs traded Castro to the Diamondbacks?
  21. Probably not, be it would be a nice pickup.
  22. You are aware that there are 29 other teams right? Landing 1/3 of the targets when you're one of thirty teams is hardly something to be upset over. If Puig doesn't take less money to go to the Dodgers that's half of the targets which is pretty ridiculous. 29 other teams aren't realistically looking to sign these guys, so that's a false point right there. It's just disappointing. They're relatively handcuffed by the new CBA agreement, so I was hoping that international signings were going to be an area where they were going to go nuts and make sure things get done because it's an area where you can ideally kill two birds with one stone and infuse the organization with young talent and get better quicker. No, I wasn't expecting them to get everyone, but I was expecting them to get at least one more of the highly touted guys besides Soler. And if it's also coming down to players simply choosing to not come to the Cubs (Cespedes, Puig), well, I'm not sure how that's really supposed to make anyone feel better.
