  1. Oh, come on. It's not like I'm sitting around expecting them to win the Super Bowl this year. I really didn't have any expectations going into the year given all the changes. I'm saying that while I've been very happy with the offense it's unfortunate that the defense and the special teams have fallen off as quickly as they have. Like jersey is saying, I'm pretty sure we all that decline wouldn't be so sudden.
  2. Pretty sure nobody wanted the defense and special teams to fall off as dramatically as they have. Being an ass or u really don't get it? We wanted an offensive led football team. The offense is top 10 good and everyone has caveats. The defense doesn't have to carry the team and people are upset that they aren't capable of it anymore, despite the fact that they still get turnovers at a league best rate. The offense has made up for the decline on defense like we hoped. I think you are mischaracterizing what people are upset about. It's not that we wanted them to carry the team, it's just that they fell pretty damn quickly. The offense has improved at an acceptable rate. The defense has regressed at too fast a rate for my liking. It's not just a lack of dominance, but rather long bouts of incompetence. I'm not apoplectic, I just wished the defense would give the offense a little more cushion to gel, since I was expecting it to take some time. Exactly. I want the offense to be the main strength, so it's not like I'm bemoaning how they're looking so far. My disappointment stems from not expecting both the special teams and the defense to start declining so sharply and relatively quickly as they have. It's not something that's going to (ideally) cripple them for the long run, but it makes the outlook for THIS season not all of that optimistic.

The offense has made up for the decline on defense like we hoped. Squeaking out last second wins and barely beating ass teams isn't what we hoped for. Like I said, the offense is trending clearly in the right direction and things look really good on that end for the future, but to sit back and say right now that everything is essentially fine this season isn't being realistic. There's a massive, massive gap between the defense carrying the team and the mess that it is right now, so to act like people "don't get it" when they're pointing how obviously flawed the team is right now is just ridiculous. The Bears are a decent team that is likely going to to either miss the playoffs or get knocked out very early because everything besides the offense is old and declining fast.

  5. I'm hardly worried because they're not "dominating;" I'm worried because they're simply giving up too many points to shitty teams.
  6. Okay, I get that. But the Redskins and the entire NFC East are, I believe, more flawed. This is true.
  7. It's semantics, but I don't think the Bears are "clearly better" than a lot of teams with how bad and vulnerable the defense has looked to this point. I love what we've seen from the offense, but that's still a work in progress itself. Basically it wouldn't surprise me to see the Bears lose to almost anyone left on their schedule.
  8. That stinks. No way you can drop the cost/downgrade and then just aggressively sell next year if need be to keep yourself in the picture? Possibly, but I doubt it; it's looking like me and one other guy left right now. Unless we can just get something dirt cheap in a corner somewhere I think the timing just wasn't right.
  9. http://img.mylot.com/2132449.gif They being the Bears. Yes, I know.
  10. Sadly, I think I'm out. I sent the invoice around the the other people in on the seats with me and people are dropping like flies.

  12. I want an entire Bryant ensemble.
  13. His awesome name alone makes this even more sad.
  14. Man, it seems like the Cardinals complain a lot: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/adam-wainwright-complains-mickey-mouse-antics-adrian-gonzalez-062256117--mlb.html I thought that was mostly a La Russa thing.
  15. What a ludicrous idea. Just hire one of the several more than qualified names and save the trades for an actual [expletive] player.
  16. Ya lousy hockey puck.
  17. I'd rather watch the Bartman inning on a 3 hour continuous loop than watch hockey. That the filthy Blackhawks have won TWO championships since 2003 and have brought a godforsaken resurrection of hockey here is even worse than the White Sox winning the WS in 2005.
  18. Yuuuuuuuuuuuup. This is all [expletive] they should have gone through already. So annoying.
  19. Yeah, it's crazy how much of a kid he still looks like vs. what he's already doing. Really, really exciting. The pessimist in me is still terrified of Baez busting, but I'm all in on Bryant. Though that could just be racism.
  20. Or it's just a sore knee. It's not like he wouldn't have had something like this happen if he hadn't had the Big One.
  21. Well, I'm still annoyed about the years of suckage; "peace of mind" means towards the Cardinals winning it in a year like this. It used to drive me nuts, but hey, if my team is garbage when it goes down, so be it. My fury over the Cubs losing out when it actually matters will be much more outrageous. As for the rest...I'm going to live forever as a sexy cyborg, so creeping death means nothing.
  22. Too much? That doesn't seem like enough.
  23. So would Castro, Rizzo and Castillo. Not that I am opposed to trading any of them in the right deal, but when you set the criteria like that you can make the case for trading anyone.
  24. The problem is, everything we have to look forward to, the Cardinals have too. So it's not like we can just count off the days until their window slams shut like the Brewers. Well, yeah, that's why I said I'll be pissed then; then it'll be a good Cubs team losing to them (not that I think they'll automatically lose to the Cardinals; they're just still going to lose to them a lot based on how many times they face each other and inevitably some of those games will be big games). The Cardinals winning when the Cubs have almost no chance is just a thing.
  25. Hey, good for them. I've found much more peace of mind accepting the Cardinals' recent success so long as the Cubs are putting out teams made up of rubber bands and dog poop. When the Cubs are good again then I'll be pissed again.
