  1. his defense has been as bad as advertised and he's struck out more than 4 times as much as hes walked. he finally hits some fingers nd it's supposed to he awe inspiring or something? Home runs are the one thing we know he will do. it's just really weird to bring him up now as if his stock has risen since he came up or something. Again, I think you meant to reply to someone else; I didn't bring him up.
  2. Because, as I explained before, I have issues with the Cubs and the people who own them and run them and the people they choose to employ. Bad news for you that the Cubs will almost certainly make the playoffs then, I guess Mediocrity for this team is more likely to be repeated playoff heartbreak, and not playing ~slightly above .500~ ball that the Pirates have perfected. Which, hilariously, is no different than winning 100 games every year for 10 years. This is such a weird gotcha (and like from Cubswin11).
  3. The gif accurately summed up my feelings: I don't think I could stand this team going through dizzying highs or terrifying lows. Just fine is about all I can stomach. Baseball Purgatory is kinda what they deserve; settle into one of those spots like the Pirates go through where they're technically competitive, above .500 for maybe 2-3 seasons, but not really. Why would anyone want that? Because, as I explained before, I have issues with the Cubs and the people who own them and run them and the people they choose to employ.
  4. That’s fine. But a couple weeks ago, the weekend we got swept by the Cards, 17 Seconds was looking at the Brewers upcoming schedule and panicking because of how easy it was. Since then, while they got to play the Marlins, Giants and Pirates, we actually picked up half a game despite them playing a cake schedule and getting three days off. That doesn’t mean that we’re going to win the division or we’re going to go on a nice run up through the ASB. But the past two weeks have been fine. Not great. But fine.
  5. If we're having fun with arbitrary endpoints, they're a delightfully average 8-8 in June. And 5-5 in their last 10.
  6. 2-5 is not satisfactory, I dont give a horsefeathers what the brewers did. they slump and we cant even be average to take advantage of it. the last several weeks have been damaging. Yeah, I really don't see how someone can look at this stretch as OK; being just a bit more shitty than the Brewers in the same stretch is, like, the barest minimum of something good happening. They can't keep being this terrible on the road.
  7. 1000000% if for no other the reason the only 2 times I’ve ever seen it enforced was the 2017 NLCS in favor of the dodgers and when Russell Martin was with the Pirates. Joe's got costumes to plan, dammit.
  8. They're playing your song, Ding Dong.
  9. Now would a perfect time to not let that OPS dip below .800 again, Schwarber.
  10. Can't waste a multi-hit game for Almora, fellas.
  11. He pushes all of the meatball buttons for me. Like, he just seems to always be laboring at all times.
  12. Quintana is easily one of my least favorite current Cubs. It's not even that he's terrible, because he's not; he just seems so mediocre even when he's good. It kind of boggles my mind that Fangraphs has him being so valuable for YEARS.
  13. Almora with 2 hits against one of the best pitchers in the game?
  14. Maybe it just feels like wishful thinking on my part, but I genuinely think this team would perform much better if Russell was gone.
