    That's placing a ton of faith in two guys who have less than 250 PAs combined above A-ball. And even if that happens, we'd need to get the pitching too. So, you think those two are going to fail? They don't have to fail for things to not work out as they seemingly have to. There's a pretty wide gulf between failing and being awesome enough to essentially carry a team/build one around, and they kinda have to be the latter at this point.

    It is absolutely irrational to refuse to trade an inconsistent catcher (a position where the amount of time that one remains productive is quite short) for the #1/#2 prospect in baseball. Trout wasn't the #2 prospect until going into 2011. He wasn't ranked before 2009 and going in to 2010 he was ranked #85. Not that trading Soto after 2009 wasn't automatically a good or bad idea, but to drop that Trout was the #2/#1 prospect in baseball like he was that as soon he showed up is wrong. The time he's talking about was after Trout's 2010 season, at which point I'm sure there was plenty of prospect buzz around Trout despite there maybe not being official lists yet (which would be the 2011 ones). Ah, thought it was post-2009.
