  1. I agree with this, and then remember that Kerry Rhodes is still inexplicably out of work, and that was just over rumors.
  2. They've since said they can do it in 4. Lies.
  3. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20140209/michael-sam-draft-stock/ This is going to be VERY interesting.
  4. [expletive], that's [expletive] awesome. It's going to be real interesting to see how this plays out.
  5. That is indeed a big time miss.
  6. Saw some idiots in the Deadspin comments saying that this somehow shows that "Smart is emotionally weak" and now teams know how he's "vulnerable."
  7. As opposed to...when? It honestly seems like being a horrible, horrible fan is a time honored tradition, especially when it comes to screaming racial stuff. I dunno, I hear a lot more, "I paid for my ticket, I can do what I want" nonsense now than I ever recall hearing when I was younger. Maybe was just less aware or it receiver less coverage or blah blah blah. Either way, whether it's gotten worse or not isn't really the point. The point it that buying a ticket isn't a free pass to comport yourself like a p.o.s. Unfortunately, a lot of fans don't feel that way. Yeah, this is true, though I think it's always had at least that kind of undercurrent with too many fans.

  9. This is long, but pretty damn great: http://deadspin.com/the-big-book-of-black-quarterbacks-1517763742
  10. Tim, put that on the front page now.

  12. Doesn't work with Clark's sad, sad eyes.
  13. This doesn't come close to the "Soriano is history's greatest monster" thread.

  16. The City of Chicago was concerned about the rooftops and liability. There are several permits involved for each building and they are required to be inspected by a city building inspector three (or four?) times per year. The permits are expensive and unless they get approval they are not granted. This was the reason that the building down the left field line was empty for most of last season (failed inspections). The LLC's were started based on a suggestion from the Department of Revenue citing liability from the City's standpoint. For example, if a rooftop has a catastrophic failure and it crashed to the ground killing people, the city, by virtue of the permit and inspection process, would be liable for damages over and above what the building's insurance could cover. As a result of that exposure, the city requested that the liability insurance be set at a certain level. To limit the individual exposure to liability, LLC's were the logical arrangement. The permit/inspection process is one of the ways the city can put pressure on the rooftop owners (delaying inspections, failing inspections etc). Interesting. Thanks for clarifying.
  17. I thought I had read somewhere that at this point all of the rooftop buildings are owned by LLC's.
  18. Yeah, decent individual game prices, but we had to unfortunately downgrade because of the total cost. The ones we have now aren't bad; they're almost directly below last year's and back under the upper deck. Definitely would like to get back to where we were when things look more promising.
  19. The business acumen of the Ricketts as owners of a baseball team is simply breathtaking to watch.
  20. I believe season ticket holders can use the VIP Bleacher entrance and get in even earlier. That's even worse! You actually get to see the Cubs batting practice. Really not a thing that holds much appeal, especially when you have to be there insanely early to see them before the visiting team. Odds are you're either freezing or baking out there; no thanks.

  22. Yeah, but I figure you'd have to be there pretty damn early to make sure you get the seats you want.
  23. Of the big chains I think Uno's (too dry and overcooked) and Lou Malnati's (too soupy/mushy) are worse. I just prefer Giordano's thin crust compared to them.
  24. I don't think I've ever eaten pizza at Wrigley, but kicking the vastly, vastly overrated D'Agostino's to the curb is fine by me. F Yeah. I don't care what anybody else says, I have to get Giordano's every time I return. Love the stuff, and have brought it back east dozens of times. It's definitely the one I prefer of the main chains here, though Pequod's is my personal favorite for deep dish.
