  1. Are sheeple any relation to the lizard people that run everything? Lizard people breed the sheeple and use the shadow people to keep an eye on things while the greys lord over them all.
  2. Odds that cubbyvrius has used the word "sheeple" unironically?
  3. Safe phrase to abide by. "Question Everything." You'd think "question intelligently" would be more appealing, but no.
  4. Holy Christ, what a cluster [expletive].
  5. More people think there was a JFK conspiracy; people tend to be very ignorant about these things.
  6. As horrible as "ONLY THE COBS" is, it's ridiculous how bad things are going for them. The Dodgers have an owner go broke, they have a monster as GM, and look where they are, TV deal included. It's ridiculous.
  7. For $22m/year for 7 years? Yes. Signing TWO big free agents? CRAZY TALK.

  9. I'm not sure what you are saying is different than what I am saying. Well, you were saying that maybe they were never serious about spending, which to me sounds like you think they've basically just been lying. I think they do want to do all of things they've talked about, but they've just mostly fucked it up.
  10. Why would they even propose the project, then? I'm not saying I disagree with you (this whole matter is very confusing and there is a lot of information we aren't privy to), but why go to the length of rolling out these proposed renovations if the end goal is too drag your feet until the project is dead? It may have started with the foolish notion that they would have gotten money from the government. But it was also part of the storyline they are selling both season ticket holders and potential television partners. That story being that ownership is gung-ho about pouring money into this team at any moment, just as long as everything else lines up perfectly. They talked big about the construction from day one of their ownership and everybody covering the Cubs knew it needed massive overhaul. They sold Theo on a complete renovation that would mirror Fenway. The threat of a lawsuit is just not a justifiable reason not to begin months ago. Large projects take lots of time and plenty of lawsuits take place. When you have money and city approval, you start, then deal with problems as they come up. That is, unless you were never serious about spending the money. I think that they basically got in over their head in terms of what kind of money they'd have and how this would play out is more likely than them effectively making up stories about money they'd never spend.
  11. You'd think this thing would be so lopsided, but with the way the Cubs are seemingly desperate to avoid a lawsuit it's pretty worrisome.
  12. And when I say "Tanaka and the roofotops" I mean Tanaka is on the rooftops mocking the Cubs by slapping OMC around with his huge dong.
  13. Come on, Fox...after the 1-2 punch of Tanaka and the rooftops there has to be SOME good news, right?
  14. What a waste.
  15. A lot of people think the moon landings were faked, too.

  17. So I don't use Twitter at all (shocker), and as an outsider it seems like every single "insider" or analyst tweet that is posted here is ripped to shreds by some people as being from someone who is wrong or unreliable or makes things up, etc., etc.. Who SHOULD I pay attention to when it comes to stuff like this?
  18. The Knicks this year are like some kind of controlled experiment in [expletive] basketball.
  19. "Best shape" does not equal "near death."
  20. They said this last year. We've added some new faces but if Veres is your closer, his stats last year are only slightly better than Gregg's, if at all. 21 -25 saves 3.02 era vs 33-38 saves with a 3.48 era with a huge fall off in September (he was at 3.11 to start that month) If it's Strop, he had 1 save last year, and 4 for his career. He has shown flashes but has never had the role, so we simply do not know what we have in him. Wright adds another lefty, but totes a 4.37 career era, and 3.69 from last year. Blake Parker adds interest but it's doubtful he has a significant role unless everyone else flops-maybe a 7th inning guy, more likely a fill the gap guy from starter to the 7th...with the other 4 filling the end of game roles. Anyone else would be non-impact (long relief, etc), or is also an unknown for any important role. One of the things that is rarely mentioned about out pen last year was that because of our offense almost every appearance was a high intensity situation. So they were always under pressure, and usually facing a 1 run loses the game or lead situation. So even if our guys out there are a little better on paper, they may have similar results. You'd have to think we can't possibly blow as many games as last year, but the scary thing is can you imagine what it would have been like if Gregg hadn't sold his soul to the devil for 1 more season in the sun? I still can't fathom that he had the type of season he did, but we could have easily blown 10 more saves if he hadn't. Neely? The weird formatting, the focus on things like ERA and saves, being convinced that something is going to go even worse than the year before...sure sounds like him.
  21. Yessss.
  22. And if that were the right thing to do but it didn't get page views? Basically we're going to have to agree to disagree here, there's no nobility there, it's outrage porn. Also, since I didn't really comment on the topic itself, I thought Sherman's interview was half terrifying(the tone), half hilarious(the message). He can do that all he wants for all I care. I didn't really care who won so an entertaining finish and Sherman's interview made the whole thing a success to me. I'm not disagreeing with anything in terms of them trying to get people to click on their site; I don't know why pointing out that Deadspin is also trying to get pageviews with literally everything they post is supposed to be some kind of "ah-ha" moment.
  23. No it doesn't. DS exists entirely for page views these days It's both; it's a given that they're going to post things they want people to click on. It's their business. And it's also about publicly shaming and mocking scumbags. Everyone wins.
  24. It has zero to do with "provoking change;" it has everything to do with publicly shaming/embarrassing racists so that they're rightfully harassed and/or their Twitter accounts are suspended (or hopefully worse). And they deserve all of it.
