  1. the ole chant was cool, but dgb (www.downgoesbrown.com -- funny site if you dont have it already) said it best on his twitter. "habs fans respond by vomiting, getting tased, and falling into penalty boxes."
  2. well it's better goalies and better defensemen now. the game always goes through cycles -- just look at baseball. scoring was way down in the nhl in the late 90's/2000's from where it is now.
  3. the habs were dangerous against pittsburgh and washington because of weak defense and average goaltending. cammalleri and gionta are elite finishers (cammy esp., even though i don't like him). philly's defense is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than either of pittsburgh's or washington's. the goaltending is probably even at worse. the habs have had exactly 3 players doing anything offensively so far in the playoffs and one of them is a 20 year old rookie defensemen. i don't want to say they don't have a shot or something like that because i've said it twice and they've won both, but i think philly is a much better team.
  4. Yeah, it usually isn't shown on TV. I remember the Wolves lost a playoff game on the delayed penalty back earlier this decade. They were on the good end of delayed penalty and as soon as the extra attacker went on the ice, they lost control of the puck and the puck found the back of their own net in OT. i was just going to ask if anyone can remember this ever happening or if the goal would even be allowed. i saw it in person once at a minor league game. i'm pretty sure ryan o'byrne of the habs intentionally passed it into his own net on a delayed penalty, thinking the goalie was there.
  5. there is not one exciting player in the i-cubs lineup. jackson looked meh out of the pen, everything was hit hard off of him. got a couple of swings and misses on his offspeed pitch. schlitter was pretty decent though. it was dollar beer night... a very uniquely vegas/southern crowd. highlighted by a guy i used to go to HS with but don't talk to at all spilling a beer on his friend's little boy.
  6. VS has at least 3 announcer crews, and probably 4. they have doc emrick, joe beninati, john forslund, and some other guy whose name escapes me doing pbp, and i can think of at least 3 color commentators too. they only cut to other broadcasts when they're cutting mid-game. i'm also pretty sure they have a deal with CSN, because they've taken every CSN broadcast (philly, chicago, san jose) given the opportunity. eta: forgot about sam rosen because i can't stand him, but i don't think he did VS games all season until the playoffs.
  7. Should've said hits them well not better. he hits them noticeably worse. so there is a built-in advantage to bringing in marshall. on top of the fact that demp was probably gassed. it's just an awful non-move. there's no justification for it other than typical "gut feeling" garbage. And Lous complete lack of trust in the bullpen even with the guys who have been good. It dosnt matter if it was Dempster or Marshall. With 1st and 3rd and 2 out, there was no reason to pitch to one of the biggest Cub killers in the game. I know Rolens a decent hitter, but when it comes down to it, you walk Votto and take your chances with him. putting the go ahead run in scoring position is a bad move too.

  9. dempster had thrown like 400 pitches today. he gave up 2 hits in the inning and only hadn't given up the tying run already because of bad baserunning/good defense. marshall is good, regardless of the fact that he's a lefty. it was a stupid move.
  10. figured this was coming. guess i don't understand the frustration with people being excited about success. I don't think they shouldn't do it, but it doesn't mean I can't be annoyed when they do. Mainly because they were already winning. You look like an idiot for celebrating like that for adding insurance runs. How bout clapping excessively for stealing a [expletive] base. Look at the guy....a no class, loser. i guess you weren't cheering for rodney dangerfield.

You look like an idiot for celebrating like that for adding insurance runs. last night i guess i can see being upset at, but the dude scored from second base on a play that never left the infield. that's straight out of major league man, i'd be excited too.

  13. i really don't think you can point to how well two teams play each other during the regular season for any indication of how they'll play in the playoffs. the kings beat the canucks 8-3 like 2 weeks before the playoffs started, it's pretty meaningless stuff. i think we handled san jose in the regular season too, but i don't have any faith that we'd win out in a 7-game series. i'm gonna say the sharks will win, but they were my cup pick after round 1. so. yeah.
  14. this is something i very rarely speculate on, but my gut feeling is that there are serious leadership problems in vancouver. they have way too much talent to just get slammed aside like this. they tend to whine more than other teams and resort to cheap play quickly. seems like there's a lack of accountability starting from the top. i don't have anything to base this on, which kind of makes it a dumb post, but that's just the feeling i get. losing 2 straight games in a row like that at home is straight up embarrassing.
  15. i want him on the kings really bad
  16. nah that was a penalty. flimsy one, but he put the stick in the hands.
  17. what's funny is that at least 2 calls have been missed in this stretch
  18. hhahaha i picked vancouver but this is hilarious. they have absolutely collapsed.
  19. i watched the video from tim kerr's 4 goal outburst a few weeks ago. franzen's was pretty reminiscent of that, even if the first goal eventually gets taken away from him.
