Cubs bumping everybody again for the off day Thursday with Z insisting on going on normal rest. I love how 24-year-olds are the most qualified to determine when they're ready. -

Ugh..I really had completely forgotten that Bynum was ever on this team. He's not signed for after this year, is he? Bynum is under Cubs control for the foreseeable future because he's a rookie. Wow, how did that not get out?

Steve Smith returned to practice today, so maybe (shh...don't want to jinx it) the Panthers can enter week 2 for the first time since 2002 without a key player done for the season.

Clemens never gives up homers, says Dusty. Put all the speed you can in the lineup. Naturally, half the Cubs' runs tonight have come via the homer.

Forget 2004-5, look how much Jones or Barrett to name two have been shuffled this year or even this month. Barrett has batted anywhere from 3rd to 6th just in the last few games, and Jones has batted from 3rd to 7th this year.

Nah, man, the kid can throw a Complete game, 1 hit shut out of the Cubs, RIGHT NOW, man. That's completely ridiculous. You don't know if he's left-handed or not yet. :wink:

Don't forget Wood got suspended for 5 games (one start) which rarely happens unless a pitcher does more than just yell at an ump, then had his appeal denied. The Cubs were well-known as being a team with a temper problem all season, and umpires as well as the MLB disciplinary office seemed determined to take advantage of that. -

# 2 slot is reserved for Nefei. It's like a "date night" between these two. No matter how well someone is hitting Dusty will always stick to his date night with Neifi. Another thing, I always thought that Theriot was a decent defensive player, so what is the problem here by not playing him? Plus, if you use Dusty logic he doesn't have the book on him yet. The day we traded for Izturis was the day that it became a lock that Theriot would be lucky to start once a week. They want to use Ronny at 2B, they are addicted to Neifi, and Izturis is going to play most of the time at SS. That leaves Theriot the odd man out. If Ryan Theriot is in the organizations plans for next season, they needed to DFA Neifi or refrain from aquiring another middle IF so he can get more than 6 AB's a week. I agree. Can't Theriot play SS too? Yes, Len has mentioned that he can. Not that it matters to Dusty.

Are you saying they look "weird" without the last names on the back? Yes. That whole "clubhouse chemistry"/"no I in team" mentality went way too far when they took the names off.

That's too bad :( He was so good for us in the one season I got to see him play too. A shame to see a promising career cut down.
