I thought the point was they hoped to turn some of these guys around after giving the Cubs pitching experts time to work with them. I do not see how it is vital to get them in the major league rotation today. In Turner's case, I'd like to see him start the rest of the year so the staff has a better opportunity to evaluate him and work with him. I have to think it's better for both him and the staff to work on things on a regular schedule as opposed to getting 2 innings a week out of the pen. If Jackson is the one that should be kicked out of the rotation, so be it. I don't care too much about Doubront and Strailey, because I don't see either one as particularly important for the future.
MLB.com has Almora ahead of him      I think the most overrated prospect in the game as well as the most underrated prospect are both in the Cubs' system. When did the Cubs acquire Buxton? Lindor Aaron Sanchez
Unless they think the Dodgers will eventually give in and trade Pederson, they probably won't get a better prospect than Almora headlining a deal. Unfortunately, because it's Amaro, this has about a 0.1% chance of happening. At least Theo and Jed will have a good laugh when Amaro asks for Bryant and Soler.
There's still McKinney, Schwarber, Tseng, Underwood, Torres, Jimenez, Mejia and Stinnett below AA. And the college bat we draft in the top 5 next year.
I don't think Javy is a guy you want to put in the majors to showcase for a trade because his weaknesses are bound to be magnified in these next few months.
He's worn 12 in Daytona and Iowa, 9 at Tenn. 12 belongs to catcher/pitcher extraordinaire John Baker at the moment, but 9 is available. Didn't somebody say 22?
If Russell stays at short, he'll probably have the best chance at the highest WAR, but I'm pretty confident Bryant will have an impact bat at the majors rather quickly.
Wow... that was a shot. Are we sure he is just a 15-or-so HR guy? better question: are we sure he's not the #1 prospect in the game? If he's not #1, then he's #2. Pretty crazy that the Cubs have arguably the top 2 prospects in baseball.
the meatball fans will definitely hate him, because he won't be hitting much and he doesn't "play the game the right way" Between learning a new position and striking out 30% of the time, they are going to hate him. At least Castro will get a break though.
Hoyer already said he's not coming up which is probably just another signal that he is about to be called up Hoyer probably finds out at the same time we do when Theo decides to promote one of the big prospects.
How in the hell did Theo land Russell when that is all Price could get? Well, didn't Friedman actually turn down Russell? That was the rumor, which makes this all the more baffling. Did he forget he didn't have to trade Price?
