  1. Slow developing plays doing us in
  2. So should we be patient with JMarcus Webb, or should we "fire him"? Pick a lane here... I'm not a fan of his but given that we're stuck with him I root for improvement.
  3. http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=chicagobears&id=4677916&city=chicago
  4. Yeah, this is kind of a dumb argument to have about Webb. The fact is this is his 3rd year in the league. Can he improve and develop more? Sure. As long as he puts it together and listens to his coaches. For Webb to step up and single block anybody is good for him as a player and can improve his seemingly fragile mental state. If Webb does develop more and start to piece together good games consistently it wouldn't be overly surprising since it is in fact his 3rd year.
  5. 63-14 Bears. Rodgers gets sacked and has to leave the game early. Greg Jennings rides the bench.
  6. I'm really happy about that deep ball Alshon caught in Game 1. I think not only is it a huge confidence booster for a young WR, but it makes the other opponents worry about something else. Alshon is a huge X-factor moving forward and can be the main reason why we will win this game.
  7. Who is this guy? I know right, I'm hoping this optimism can continue with a Bears blowout and a Rodgers concussion a la Julius Peppers.
  8. I think Marshall and Jeffrey will physically manhandle the GB corners. Also GB would be wise not to blitz with Woodson as much as they did versus the 49ers, because the Bears WRs will make them pay in a big way. 31-20 Bears.
  9. Doug was just on ripping on "that kid Mckellan", saying he thinks he'll be the MLB eventually. Yea I understand they're old time football guys but man the blanket statements and little used statistics is sometimes hard to listen to. It is great comedy when they both start yelling incoherently though.
  10. Great win by the Bears. The first series pissed me off at the time and I was worried the Bears were going to have a tough time rebounding from it, but Cutler showed great poise. Going forward, I think the concern is still on the D-line and hoping that we can bring a pass rush to a team that has an average to above average o-line. Shea was ok, I'm not as down on him as Doug and OB were after the game. I think that spin move was real nice but he does lack size and strength as well as the needed pad leverage to generate a consistent rush. I hope we use E-Rod a little more in the passing game as I thought he blocked pretty well and is a great decoy.
  11. I think our defense will be average to above average this year, but the lack of new blood and total difference makers is disturbing. The team will need to hit on some draft picks and hope the younger guys can develop or this defense is in trouble. We've got 3-4 impact vets on the decline.
  12. McKinney at least as a swing tackle with Tice could be a good upgrade from Williams.
  13. When did you change your name, cubbievirus? Wilson A was the original cubbievirus Message board celebrity in just 2k posts? Win.
  14. So is McManis a serviceable player or is he just a 52nd man?
  15. So it's either the Packers or Patriots this year.
  16. The Bears last 5 years of shitty drafting just compounds this issue and I think outside of signing quality free agents, if we keep on whiffing in the draft we're destined for a rebuilding period. The time is now to start finding quality players that can impact this team be it studs or depth players. Can you imagine what this team would be like if Angelo just nailed 1 or 2 drafts in the last 5 and found a quality OL or defensive player.
  17. Yes the draft has been a disappointment aside from Jeffrey so far looking like a big time contributing player off the bat. Is it early to make a serious judgement? Yes it is, however Emery did say he was looking to draft immediate impact players. Lets not forget that. We now have 3 players that we can look at to judge this draft since the others were injured/released.
  18. Brett Jackson has been enjoyable as of late. Please continue this.
  19. Dilfer sucks but complaining about him not being 100% positive is ridiculous. When Cutler has a 3 TD 0 INT game for 300 yards or even a game lesser then that but still effective, Dilfer at least in the past would find a way to nitpick him. (cue the part where Jay throws a near INT on a tipped ball "THESE ARE THE THROWS THAT GET HIM IN TROUBLE AND HURT HIS TEAM.") I dont think Jay until recently has had a fair shake in the media after his trade demand and first year with the Bears. The guy has done great with shitty parts around him. This is the first year that hes had big boy receivers to work with.
  20. He did a 180 on Cutler so I have no problem with him. Your move, Schlereth Both are horrible. Dilfer still throws in his jabs and never is 100% positive even if Jay has an outstanding game. Dilfer rails on Jay about throwing off his back foot, but Jay has proven that he's unique in the sense that some of his good throws do come off of his back foot and really only goes to that if the pressure is bad up front.
  21. Ugh, anytime I hear Trent Dilfer or see him quoted I cringe.
  22. Redskins released Cooley. Yes or no?
  23. Well played.
  24. OK but what does that have to do with last weeks preseaon game against the Giants? They looked really bad in that game and if such a thing carries over into the regular season the margin of errors disappears and Lovie is gone. It won't carry over into the regular season because there's no coorelation between preseason performance and regular season performance. Over the last 4 seasons, the combined regular season record of teams that went 4-0 in the preseason: 39-72 Over the last 4 seasons, the combined regular season record of teams that went 0-4 in the preseason: 82-78 I know this is a very basic way to look at it because the starters don't even play half the minutes in a preseason, but you would think that went a team goes 4-0 in the preseason, the team played pretty good football, starters, reserves, etc, and vice versa with 0-4 teams Obviously a losing streak/winning streak means nothing and the overall record means nothing. However strictly looking at the limited snaps the first team received, there can be plenty of concern among fans and it would be extremely naive to call it 'overreacting.' We have line issues on both sides of the ball, a medicore secondary and an injured Pro Bowl LB that plays the most important position in our defensive scheme. This defense is well on its way to being shitty the longer we continue to whiff on draft picks and take stupid gambles.
  25. It's not overreacting to me, its a silly statement. Of course if they play like garbage, they won't make the playoffs and Lovie will be gone. But there is an indirect implication in your statement that the Bears preseason performance has something to do with their regular season performance. If there wasn't that implication, you are just making statements like "look at that bartender serving alcohol. If he serves alcohol like that to 10 year olds, he will go to jail" There is too much proof of preseason performance (yes even when the first teams are out there, and even when you are evaluating individual position groups like the o-line) having no relation to regular season performance for me to really look too deeply into these things. My thought was more along the lines of this is the year more then any past years where Lovies ass is on the hotseat. This team is expected to contend and with a first year GM, there is no margin for coaching errors. Angelo went down with the ship. Emery will not. I agree with you Banedon that it playoffs or bust for Lovie which is going to be a tall order with the Lions and Packers in our division.
