  1. Valid point and I appreciate your engagement in a mature discussion. I do feel that ESPN and other news outlets are a hype machine and unfortunately this is going to be the next big thing. I feel like some of the reality of the situation, homosexuals coming out in sports is going to be lost on Mr. Collins. He will be out of a job next season and soon, retired. It will be shocking if a GM is willing to add him to their team and if that does happen, will be a true story.
  2. It would be nice if it didn't matter and wasn't a big story. If he was the 778th player to come out that would be the case. But it does matter and it is a big story. And if other people don't like it they are entitled to their opinion but they are also entitled to know they are horrible human beings. I understand it would be newsworthy and a bigger deal if it were someone like a Steph Curry, a rising star and young player with a promising future in the league for years to come. Collins doesn't currently have a job and it wouldn't be shocking if he doesn't have one next season averaging 2 pts a game. I question his motives and timing. That is all. He's a gay man that for various reasons lived a closeted life and doesn't want to do that anymore. What is there to question? You think he's actually straight but wants the attention? Absolutely not. I just think its weird because at this juncture in his career, does he have anything to lose by announcing this? What are the chances of a GM going out there and signing this guy to sit in his warm ups all season? There have been retired athletes already who have made this sort of announcement. I'd be curious to see a contracted player make this announcement on a team with a future ahead of him. That to me is more of a story and a pioneer then a dude who's career is likely over. Hence my thought that this isnt much of a story.

  4. Please post less.
  5. Yeah I feel this. I don't think it matters much and shouldn't be as big of a story as it is. Just move on and be you. If other people don't like it, then they're entitled to their opinions.
  6. I've got 2 questions. 1- how does TE Joeseph Fauria not get drafted? 2- how is Gabe Carimi a total bust if he's never had a healthy full offseason/training camp? I would like to give him another few seasons
  7. Martellus Bennett in response to Adam Shefter @JoeGryffindor: "@AdamSchefter: Fact of day: Mel Kiper Jr. NEVER has taken a bathroom break during any draft. Ever." Who gives a flying f**k. He's lame.
  8. Don't know how to feel about Walter either Raisen. All in all I'd give this draft a B to B-. Hopefully our O-line can take a big step forward and be solid this year. Webb and Carimi now have to produce or move aside.
  9. Time for Lu to make a big shot
  10. He's a DE, isn't he? He'd be pretty small as a NFL defensive end. Emery has now drafted four guys that would fit LB in a 3-4 scheme. Makes you wonder, with us probably losing most of the older players after this season, they could make the switch.
  11. Yep, was viewed as a 3-4 OLB. Meh Emerys draft style has been more defined now with him drafting 2 years. He loves athletes with measurables
  12. It pains me to watch Evans score on the Bulls.
  13. You're misrepresenting your point for effect; one of the most popular draft experts, Mel Kiper, had Long in the first round in his final mock. Correction: The clear majority everybody
  14. Give me a break with this nonsense. People are well within their rights to look at a draft where they reached on their 1st pick, did alright with the 2nd and 3rd and then drafted more redundancy with their 4th. It's pretty unexciting and underwhelming. They don't need 11 OL. They could use another WR for when Bennett or Jeffrey break and we trot out a pile of crap alongside a triple covered Marshall. That anyone on NSBB thinks they know enough about scouting football players to actually get as worked up as some of the folks in here (see: cubbyvirus) have is nonsense. But thanks for being entertaining. Whatever, CT. Scouting is pretty unexact, and you don't have to work for an NFL team to have an opinion. If that's your stance, we may as well close up 4/5th of the threads here. It is pretty unexact, and I have no qualms with someone having an opinion, even stupid ones. What does amuse/trouble me is people acting like they honestly believe they could do a better job. That's just funny. If that honestly troubles you then you're not busy enough. I don't think anyone here truly believes that they can be a GM without working up the ladder, however we can come to form an opinion about the job that they do. There's at least 5-10 credible draft sites out there along with anonymous scouts out giving them and team reporters information. If nobody has Kyle Long being drafted in the first round, you can form an educated opinion about that rather easily and it would hardly be 'troubling.'
  15. Well, that's kind of painting it negatively for the sake of nothing else but painting it negatively. Had they gotten him at 30 or beyond, the pick would've been fine. My main issue was that Eifert and Floyd (who wouldn't have been help for Cutler) were available. Regardless, I'm not sure how your read is that they're not trying to get Cutler help after doing that. Nor do I see where Cutler really needs more help at this point. A speedy WR would be nice, but there really is no excuse left for Jay if the offense doesn't do better. They now have 11 OL. They don't need 11 OL. They have Marshall and Jeffrey, and then Bennett and TBD at WR. They have Bennett and the rotating circus of failure at TE. So like I said, when Bennett or Jeffrey break again, who picks up the slack and helps out Marshall? I don't see how a couple OG/OT project-ish guys is helping Cutler. I don't really have an issue with going for quantity at OL and then seeing who they can coach up and picking the best 5. It has to improve the line. If your issue is who the 4th and 5th WR are, fine, I guess. I'm not all that worried that they won't be able to find somebody to stick there. TE could use some more depth, for sure. I'd argue with Bennett being a 3rd WR. He's had a few good games but is too inconsistent.

But thanks to them for being entertaining (I guess?) You've literally offered nothing to this thread except to occasionally come by to [expletive] on people that enjoy the draft and have fun with it. Who's the real tool? To think people know enough about baseball to join an online forum to get worked up about trades can be considered 'nonsense' too.

They definitely need WR depth because I doubt Bennett can be effective for 16 games in the slot. Marshall has a lot of mileage Nd the multiple hip surgeries are.....interesting.
  18. The Cubs are stupid? Cubbyvirus gonna cubbyvirus. Ok the Cubs aren't stupid and in fact they're very smart!
  19. Oh you're SO level headed and logical, I bow to your piety
  20. In the first round everyone was all "Why didn't they trade down?" and in the 4th round they trade down and it's all "OMG I hate teh Bearz!" Apples and oranges.
  21. What? The possibility is that Webb, Carimi or Britton get cut
