  1. It's time for this stupid streak to end in Lincoln. If it doesn't end this year, who knows when it will. M-I-Z!
  2. Well, its off to Wrigleyville to watch the game at a local bar. GO CUBS!
  3. I'm sure it has already been explained, but where are those caluclations coming from Meph?
  4. TV stations control everything. Nah, in the league that wins the ASG, the team with the best record chooses between schedule A or B. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080912&content_id=3461424&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Holy crap, that is up there with the absolute stupidest things I have ever seen.
  5. I'm excited for this weekend. It'll be the first time since graduation I'll be in Columbia. The 11:30 a.m. starting time sucks, and the tailgating will start early, but itll be fun as hell. Also, Mizzou should win the game fairly big. And when OSU loses to USC this weekend, Mizzou should move into the top 5.
  6. Holy crap this sucks. I really wish I was in Columbia and tailgating for the Mizzou game right now, even if we are playing some crap school.
  7. This will be the first time since 2003 that I won't be at a Mizzou home game at Faurot. That makes me sad. I think I will miss the tailgating more than the game though, because this one is gonna be over very early. I will be at the Nevada game though. It'll be my first time back since graduation.
  8. What an entertaining game this has turned out to be.
  9. B-C-S How'd that work out for you? Pasadena was lovely. How was (I'd put the city your bowl was in here, but nobody knows or cares about those lesser bowls)? Fantastic. Mizzou actually, ya know, didn't embarrass themselves and won their bowl game. Ya know, the lack of trash talking in here has been kinda weak. ILLINOIS SUCKS.
  10. B-C-S How'd that work out for you?
  11. Heading down to St. Louis in a couple hours now. I am excited. For my prediction, I will say Mizzou 34 Illinois 27. M-I-Z!
  12. It's one thing to have pride in your conference. But it's really stupid when a middle of the road conference teams fans chant it at a game.
  13. Unfortunately hes got no shot, but shouldn't Ramirez get at least mentioned in MVP talks? I know his numbers aren't overwhelming, but every time I hear NL MVP talk they don't even mention him. Anyways, just a minor gripe on yet another very enjoyable night.
  14. One week til I head down to the Dome for the game. I really can't wait. It's gonna be a long, long week at work. I'm even more excited cause it'll be the first time I've seen a lot of my college friends since graduation. Plus, I think Mizzou should win. So it should be a great weekend.
  15. oh dusty, you giant loser from Jayson Stark's rumblings and grumblings http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings: • Seeing Red: We've heard some buzzing lately, among baseball men, scouts and players, about a recent Dusty Baker quote on the Reds' troubles that sure looked like an attempt to absolve himself of all blame. "I have never wanted to win more than I do right here, and I will," Baker told the Dayton Daily News' Hal McCoy. "But this is Wayne Krivsky's team, not Walt Jocketty's and not mine. I just hope there is enough out there after the season that we can get to help us." Maybe we're not reading that right. But if we're misinterpreting it, suffice it to say we're not the only ones. And it appears Baker is saying that the Reds' disappointing record is his players' fault, and his former GM's fault, but not his own or his current GM's doing. Well, obviously, Jocketty is only now beginning to put his stamp on this roster. And the players haven't exactly overachieved. But doesn't the manager bear some responsibility for this mess, too? Scouts who have followed the Reds continually talk about their messy execution, their mediocre defense and their distinct lack of energy. There also has been plenty of second-guessing of Baker's lineup choices (particularly those 242 at-bats Corey Patterson has gotten). And there is no shortage of people wondering whether Aaron Harang's forearm injury -- along with his 1-6, 8.49 slide in the past 2½ months -- might be a direct result of Baker's decision to allow him to throw 63 pitches in relief on two days' rest in a May 25 18-inning game, then start him on three days' rest immediately afterward. Dusty Baker has many admirable traits. And this is not an attempt to heap all the blame on him. We're just saying that when teams like this fall apart, it's everybody's fault -- including the manager's.
  16. He just hit 94 and hit that earlier this inning too. And Rich Harden =D> another fantastic outting.
  17. Its alwasy a pleasure to visit NSBB during the big series. Two great wins by the Cubs. Wow. Im looking forward to meeting two my friends who are Chicago natives and of course die hard Cub fans for the game tonight. Although, may of you here will be disaappointed to learn they are rationale in their approach as fans. THe fun part is I now have another reason to add to the list as to why the Cardinals are performing well. Let's see, now I ass Facing crappy pitching, the infamous Pixie Dust (alwasy love that one), overachieving (an annual favorite), easy schedule, Luck (the default reason), am I missing any others. Cant wait to share these tonight. All tounge-in-cheek, guys. But people say the craziest things here. Oh and by the way, dont concern yourself with the Cardinals schedule. Milwauke only has 19 games remaining with sub-500 teams. Yikes. And another thing, rehab for Tommy John is prescribed at a year, and pitchers have returned in shorter time. Carpenters arm wont fall off tonight! Have fun!!! Well, this is one of the stupidest posts I've seen in a long time. Congradulations. Instead of making counter points, you instead decide to post this garbage. But hey, I guess I shouldnt be surprised. I've heard all this crap from Cardinal fans for years and years now.
  18. Yeah it'll be Derrick Washington. He should be pretty good, from what I've heard and what reporters are saying about him. The best part about him is the fact that he's a very good receiver out of the backfield, something that MU didn't have with Temple last year. I'm not sure how he will do carrying the ball, but I suspect he should be pretty good, and that there shouldn't be much of a drop off, if at all, with him back there replacing Temple. It also would surprise me if he didn't have more total yards than Temple did last year.
  19. Hmm, that's not really surprising about the Cardinals hitting against crappy pitching. Since July 1st, when they've played teams with a record above .500 they are 4-12 (lost 2 of 3 to the Mets, although they technically split a 4 game set, Cubs, Phillies, and Mets, and got swept in a four game set by the Brewers) while they are 8-1 against teams under .500 (won 2 of 3 against the Pirates, swept a four game set against the Padres, and won two against the Braves thus far). It will be interesting to see if there's any trend that keeps up the rest of the season. They have 9 series against teams with records over .500 and eight series against teams with records under .500.
  20. Seemed like a ton of Cub fans to me. One of my friends who just moved up there from St. Louis said his section was 80% Cub fans. He also said he couldnt believe how loud it was when the Cubs won the game. Fans singing Go Cubs Go as they left the stadium. I wish they would have made it a damn weekend series. That would have been fun.
  21. Honestly who gives a crap how many people watched. The biggest joke in sports is the fact that the stupid ass all star game decides home field advantage for the World Series. Honestly, I cannot comprehend how [expletive] that is. My mind is honestly going to explode. I mean geez, if the N.L. team wins 100+ games in the regular season and sweeps its way to the World Series, it doesnt matter, the team in the A.L. that won 88 games as the wild card should have the home field? I probably completely missed the point of this comment, but still, Bud Selig is an idiot. And by probably, I mean definitely. And I am kinda drunk. But, none the less, Selig is an idiot. NFL: Hawaii. Just like playing sandlot football. NBA and NHL: Best record gets Home Court/Home Ice Advantage. MLB: ASG: it's like playing Game 163 in the middle of the season. The MLB is the only sports league in which there is something on the line. Which is stupid. For alot of guys in tonight's game, this is essentially Game 163 they will have played in. Obviously I am Captain Obvious for saying this, but its cause its in the middle of the season. And I know I'm not the only who says why does the All Star Game have to matter in the first place? Honestly, half the damn crowd, and thats a generous estimate, was gone by the 9th inning. By the 13th inning, only about 25% of the crowd was still there. So again I say, Bud Selig, how [expletive] can you be. The All Star game was fine before your dumb ass messed with it.
  22. Dan Uggla. They could not have won without him. hahaha if MLB had any balls they would have given him the MVP
