  1. Last night I was checking in on the rivials game and I thought that when corey was batting he was using a tree trunk to swing with. Does he use a huge bat or was it just me?
  2. when is it feasible to start trading for major leaguers...ie cards...we didnt have the great system you guys do but some how we netted edmonds rolen mulder marquis walker..hell most of out team with our minors..Why wont the cubs do this like they did with aram or lee...why hold on to cpat when you could trade for pierre(in theory only) i know you guys have produced Z prior and wood but you guys should USE the minor for winning at the major league level?
  3. he made a mistake of leaving the ace in there 1 inning to long...who could blame him catch 22 crap. Other than that I think he keeps his team morale up (redsox in the wc race). just an opinion...why i am a fan and not walt or jim
  4. so what is out there for the manager's spot this year...Piniella? Mizzaloni(sp)? Are they talking about people (under their breaths)? Or will you have no choice if dirty baker wants to comes back Grady Little, Larry Dieker unfortunetly, DB will more then likely be back... Little, i forgot about him and I think that he would be good for your organization. Unfortunally dirty has one more yr. could you just put him in the "upper management job" for his last year and have him inspect toothpics around wrigley's concessions or something. I remember when balor was replace with baker and both of my good friends who were cub fans were over rejoice and my card fan and myself were happy because we thought he would be awful for the cubs...if was the year after the giants beat us in the nlcs I think and he just come across as a mananger that in good time it is due to him and in bad times it is not his responsiblity/fault..he is only the manager and no the player
  5. why settle for schmidt...? go for santana.! Just picking..You will have to give up alot more for schmidt than a cf with promise that hasnt delivered. Now maybe C-pat and Wood/hill for schmidt would work maybe. But If I was a cub fan FIRST I WOULD WANT SOMETHING DONE WITH THE MANAGER....you guys are owed a good year (should have been this yr.) look at the lineup and rotation...sicking....good and the performance given is terrible....start with the head and then go from there
  6. so what is out there for the manager's spot this year...Piniella? Mizzaloni(sp)? Are they talking about people (under their breaths)? Or will you have no choice if dirty baker wants to comes back
  7. someone like Bobby Cox or dare I say Tony L. was incharge of the cubs? I mean if you look at the "paper team" it is one hell of a line up with a strong rotation and a weak bully. I am a cards fan and miss the heated rival games we had in 01-04 how fun they were compared to this present situation. As a cards fan I hope dusty stays but as a person who gets to watch this weekend games, I wish they were more of a "playoff" atmosphere.
  8. Don't forget Rollins...and I would agree, the emergence of Cedeno makes spending 8M a season for 4 years on a guy whos gonna OPS mid 700s a dumb dumb move. I trust that Hendry knows this. After all he did put Ronny on the 40 man seemingly too early and look what happened. Cedeno is a Hendry boy and sans Baker is a virtual lock at starting shortstop in 2007. Nomar just built a house here, wants to return, and has every GM shaking in their boots because of his freek injury...theres no way he doesnt resign. I think rollins signed like a 4 yr. extension lately...but i may be wrong
  9. are you also registered at Cards Talk...your id seems to be there also
  10. Being you guys are cub diehards and have seen the Cards and Whitesox alot. I was wondering IF and I MEAN IF it fell as the Cards and Whitesox met in the WS....Who would you guys put your money on to win if you HAD to bet on the winner...? And Who will you root for if you werent betting. Your cross town want to be's or your in division rivals? NOTE THAT I HAVE SAID IF MANY OF TIME AND IN NO WAY AM I CLAIMING THAT NOONE ELSE HAS A CHANCE
  11. Oh man, Im glad I actually like Maddux as a person, because I have tickets to the 11th, 22nd, and 28th of August. I really wanted to see someone else, but I guess I will have to keep the Maddux jersey clean this month. I hadn't even thought about that angle of it. As I look at my remaining tickets.... I've got Williams, Prior, Prior, & Prior. Hmmmmmmm. remember that is only the order if injuries dont strike
  12. Off the top of my head i have no idea, but lets remember that Hou. still has to play the cards also and hopefully they are healthy for those games as well the playoffs.
  13. Well from what I have heard, When someone goes on waivers he must be offered to their division first meaning from worst to first in the NL and THEN offered from worst to first in the AL....That means all teams would have to pass on him for the whitesox get a shot....surely someone like the yankees or astros would claim him b4 the sox get the shot. ps how is my new sig..is it smaller....how do you even tell if it is 4megs?
  14. does anyone know if there is a way to find out who has been place on the wire?
  15. so both d lee and prior are FA after 06 hmmm...
  16. i remember the playoffs when the cards were playing the braves in the first round and at the deline they got Will the thrill due to Mark being hurt and before the game we were at batting practice and will came over and was very nice and sign all kinds of ppl stuff up till the moment he HAD to go in the cage and then came back over to sign a little more... Back to raffy...it is really sad...I just hope now MLB and the players ass. come to a harsher pentaly for steriods like 1st time is 81 games 2nd is a year and 3rd is forever...
  17. D lee aram wood prior Z thanks in advance
  18. Mulder has an option for 6.75 give or take .5 mill option for next year as well Marquis is arb. elligable Suppan has an option that is cheap for a 13-16 game winner Carp has signed and extension for 6 mill a year over 3 years Updating previous reports, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Joe Strauss reports St. Louis Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter's two-year extension is believed to be for about $6 million per season if his 2008 option vests. The money is below market value if Carpenter stays healthy. "This is the place I want to play," Carpenter said. "At some point in time you've got to factor the money people talk about against the fact I enjoy coming to the park every day and being around these guys." Morris will be the only FA pitcher we could lose..and probally to NY mets or yankees seeing that he is from there
  19. rotoworld: Larry Walker - OF - STL Larry Walker (back) will work out this weekend and if all goes well, start swinging a bat again on Monday. He's still hoping for a mid-August return from a back injury. Aug. 2 - 10:15 am et Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch Reggie Sanders - OF - STL X-rays showed that Reggie Sanders leg is healing properly. He's not expected back before September 1. Aug. 2 - 10:13 am et Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch Yadier Molina - C - STL Yadier Molina yesterday put on his catcher's gear and worked on his defense for the first time since his hand injury. He's still 1 1/2 to three weeks away from returning. He has hit balls off a tee, but has yet to take live batting practice. Aug. 2 - 10:10 am et Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch Do we ever need these ppl back
  20. boy by the look of things this is the WRONG season to be looking for FA to sign for the outfield.....makes for some offseason trades
  21. how do you change the "link" from looking like http://etc....to just saying link in blue? thanks
  22. does anyone know of or have a list of free agents.. thanks in advance
  23. cool thanks well i hope the trade works out for you guys...i just wish we had some secure youth-not the jrod or gall injections even thought it seems we cant bring up someone that doesnt start hot for us. Now does anyone have a list of Ofers that are FA after the season seeing that both of our teams will be players in that game.
  24. what stands out for me is that chan ho still has decent stats overall after sucking so bad in Tex.... but no they are totally different pitchers.
  25. First how is everyone this is my sencond official post. I am a card fan and have a few cubbie fans that i enjoy talking to and have visited here a few times and thought i would finally chime in. What do you guys think the Lawton trade was for: to make a rush for the postseason or to give you all a good start on a corner outfielder for next year. in the cards case Lawton could have been a good possiblity for a move for the future in that we have an old outfield out there and with the injuries and all. Walker is done after this year, and Sanders if close to finished but we needed him for the future and a "stop gapper" this year. I was just puzzled as to what Lawton is for the cubbies? Longterm leadoff hitter or rental player?
