  1. Oklahoma losing in the second round isn't too stupid, imo. They have one awesome player, one pretty good player, and a whole lotta nothing. I'm not that high on Michigan, though. I really wanted to pick Oklahoma to lose early. I had them tabbed as a second round loser before the tournament. I just don't trust Michigan or Clemson. I'd say Clemson would be more likely to beat them, but I'm not picking a team that finished the way they did. I also don't like Syracuse, Arizona State or Temple much either. So I'm left with Oklahoma in the Elite Eight -- which I still doubt happens. Oh well. I went with ASU in the Elite Eight. I really like Harden and Pendergraph for some reason. Same here. I have them in the Sweet Sixteen. I wanted to, but could not bring myself to pick them over Oklahoma.

  3. Illinois is going to beat Western Kentucky. I really don't think they'll beat Gonzaga though.
  4. You have to have a winning record to play in those tournaments. Look above you. Clearly you don't to play in the CBI.
  5. We kinda got jobbed with that opponent and placement. It pisses me off. Not only are they closer to the location than us, but half their team is from MN. Nice protected seed. Agreed. That's unfair. Maybe not as unfair as overall No. 1 seed Louisville potentially playing eight-seed Ohio State in Dayton (though Louisville travels very well and is only about 150 miles away).
  6. First, thank you. Second, it's funny, this was a tournament I didn't think I had a great read on (working leaves me with less time to watch basketball then previously). Still, a lot of my initial reactions are confirmed by these stats. Meaning, I think Wisconsin, Arizona, USC, Maryland, VCU, and even Cleveland State and North Dakota State are possible upsets. Obviously some would be extremely minor ones.
  7. I'm thinking you're right. I'd be very surprised if both Creighton and St. Mary's are left out. I think St. Mary's will make it. I also think LSU will undeservedly get a better seed than what we have.
  8. Michigan State has been underrated in the top-seed discussion. If they won the Big Ten Tournament, I think they would have been a No. 1. It wouldn't stun me if they still were -- they should absolutely be in the discussion -- but it would surprise me some. It is really difficult to argue against Michigan State's record against the top-50 and 100. Agree that Oklahoma and Memphis really shouldn't be in the discussion.
  9. It's worth noting that UConn is not the same team it was with Jerome Dyson. The Huskies are only 4-3 without him (though obviously two losses to Pitt and a six overtime loss to Syracuse aren't bad losses).
  10. I think the rationale that the players aren't very good is pretty reasonable. Tell that to Louisville, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Missouri, Florida State, Texas, Butler, Oklahoma State, Boston College, et al.
  11. That's really too bad. From the outside, he really matured and developed into a leadership role this year. Hard-nosed, Big Ten player.
  12. This can't possibly be happening.
  13. This is without a whole lot of analysis, so some rankings may be admittedly imprecise: Xavier Florida State Illinois Gonzaga West Virginia Purdue Arizona State BYU Oklahoma State Marquette California Texas Wisconsin Michigan Boston College Butler Tennessee Utah LSU Texas A&M Siena Cleveland State VCU Northern Iowa Western Kentucky North Dakota State Portland State Cornell East Tennessee State Robert Morris Morehead State Radford Chattanooga
  14. Their marquee wins over Purdue, Texas, USC and UAB beg to differ. Oh, wait . . .
  15. I agree. Also, what do you do with Pitt? Pitt's still a No. 1. Though they almost certainly won't be the overall top seed now.
  16. A very wise man on this board didn't have Oklahoma on his top line. Something tells me others will now start to come around to his way of thinking.
  17. I was wrong. IU is getting rolled.
  18. Marquette the most impressive team ever to lose one of its best players then proceed to lose five of six, right?
  19. Thanks. Still, to me, the 12-7 record against the top-50 Kansas sports separates them. Villanova is 9-10, Washington is 10-10, Mizzou 10-8, and UCLA 10-9. Again, things can still change. I'm saying at this point.
  20. We have them as a 3-seed, right? I'd be opposed to moving them off that line. I think Lunardi has them as a 2-seed, which I don't think they should be now (or before, actually). Edit: I obviously should have added the caveat of "at this time." I figure most every team's seed is somewhat fluid.
  21. With Northwestern, Providence, and Miami (FL) all losing today, I think it's a reasonable assumption all three are heading to the NIT.
  22. no and his stolen base percentage in the bigs is 76.8%, there's nothing wrong with that. There's a lot wrong with that. Isn't 75% the break-even point?
