  1. Blistering contact by our middle of the order heroes
  2. no one turns a line drive into a ball that can't even get past the infield grass on the fly quite like heyward
  3. darvish threw about 10 pitches just as bad as that that we did nothing with
  4. 491 feet! https://twitter.com/statcast/status/920825956213952512
  5. why would a game between two NFC teams be on CBS? did they do away with conference/network alignment and I didn't notice?
  6. so what are people who traffic in unsubstantiated gossip saying niko said
  7. People keep talking like this as if the Dodgers don't have a great chance to win the World Series now. That's the tragedy here.
  8. looks like a lot of anticipated drama this season: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21039684/predictions-division-conference-nba-champs
  9. also, i would submit we're not putting enough traffic on the basepaths or hitting balls hard enough, often enough to get bit in the ass by bad sequencing or batted ball luck. one of you periph wizards find out what our LD%, o-swing % and all that stuff is compared to our normal periphs. we're expanding and then not hitting anything with authority that does find the zone.
  10. those totals were against, by definition, league averagish offenses (i know it doesn't quite work out that way) not a good one like the cubs and they haven't pitched all, or even close to most, of the innings so far this postseason. the cubs bats are seriously under performing where you'd expect them to be. yes but there's just no such thing as "where you'd expect them to be" in a 7 game sample, especially one where you disproportionately face insanely good pitchers and throw in one weather nightmare for good measure. it's just baseball. it's sequencing luck, batted ball luck, etc. and sometimes it adds up to things that look like trends that are really meaningless. sure, but as long as we're assigning blame to dumbass decisions by joe (and he for sure deserves some blame) we should probably take a look at the impotent bats.
  11. .172/.266./.272 as a team again, no pitching is that good we're facing great pitchers who are executing but we're probably between 2 and 3 standard deviations below where you'd expect this offense to be at. we're in almost worst case scenario territory. Scherzer .178/.242/.319 Kershaw .184/.204/.268 (in 2016) WRONG. Some pitchers are that horsefeathering good. those totals were against, by definition, league averagish offenses (i know it doesn't quite work out that way) not a good one like the cubs and they haven't pitched all, or even close to most, of the innings so far this postseason. the cubs bats are seriously under performing where you'd expect them to be.
  12. IDK. It's almost like they faced 4 starts in 7 games against guys who will be top 3 in the Cy Young this year. .172/.266./.272 as a team again, no pitching is that good we're facing great pitchers who are executing but we're probably between 2 and 3 standard deviations below where you'd expect this offense to be at. we're in almost worst case scenario territory.
  13. i'm still more upset about our impotent offense how can everyone slump at the same time
  14. I get it, but we took 2 games against the Nats by scratching through. It’s expected that we’ll need a couple of those in the NLCS too. i think it's expected that if we're going to do anything our offense that has been good-to-great the last 3 seasons will have to at least approach average rather than be first half schwarber without the walks and power
  15. It's not shocking. That he somehow is healthy is. he found gagne's leftover bottle of Secret Stuff and split it w/ chris taylor
  16. Amazing what happens when you have 30 pitchers and can manipulate the DL to have guys only pitch once every week. has anyone written the definitive article on doyers DL shenanigans yet i need something to whine about to my LA fan friends
  17. we're slashing .172/.266/.272 in the postseason coming into tonight's game no pitching is that good
  18. i wish the offense knew it was allowed to Do Things in the early innings
