  1. why did Contreras stab at those pitches like that
  2. i'm going to submit that we don't have enough power arms so we have lots of nibblers who don't have elite command
  3. wil venable looks like the world's oldest baby or the world's youngest old person
  4. is there any precedent for someone having a kid and coming back to the top of her (globally popular) sport? i feel like you hear something about it every olympics or something but I can't remember for sure
  5. Yeah, in an ideal world, you have LeBron this year, bring back Randle and see how the young guys progress. Then bring in another free agent next year. Not sure if LeBron is okay essentially punting on winning a title next year (he should be because they aren’t beating the Warriors next year anyway). That’s my thinking as well. Let Ingram grow another year, Kuzma is a nice wing player to pair with Lebron and Lonzo I still like. Also do a 1 year deal for Boogie. Enough to be interesting, not enough to win. Make sure Ingram doesn’t really take another huge leap and get a guy or two next year when the picture is clearer on what the young guys are. Lonzo, Kwahi or Klay, Lebron, Kuzma, Ingram and Randle would let you do a lot of Warriors like things. I just hope they’re patient and Lebron bought in to it for the year instead of false title hopes. if you trade for kawhi this year you have a good shot at winning the title this year and you nip the possibility of him being traded to someone that can talk him into staying like OKC did with george also, lebron is great but i don't think you can just burn seasons with him at this point
  6. kawhi leonard is insanely good and better than any combination of players they're going to have to give up Right, but they aren’t winning this year anyways and it makes the team thinner for a few years if they just wait. well we'll see what they have to give up either this offseason or at some point midseason if kawhi sticks to his guns about wanting to play in LA...i think they could end up with leonard without having to give up ingram and kuzma. and lebron/kawhi/filler is good to be enough to make a serious run at golden state
  7. As a Laker fan I don’t think so for this year and I absolutely hate this direction. Lebron, Kwahi and whatever young guys they have left + vet mins is not enough to win the West and they’re screwing up building a long term team here. They are locked in to Lebron until he’s 37/38 now. Sign him this offseason fine, but don’t trade everyone for Kwahi. Wait until next year when Kwahi, Klay, AD, Durant and others are FA then you have all these interesting young dudes plus 2-3 other FA and a much more complete team. kawhi leonard is insanely good and better than any combination of players they're going to have to give up
  8. once they get kawhi, absolutely
  9. I don’t think maples is the answer for our bullpen woes
  10. Russia probably has a bunch of drug cheats but Spain is boring as hell
  11. lavine replied, not sure if I like it mainly because i could see us resigning him and having that contract being crippling
  12. Chatwood sucks but Willson kinda jagged the inning by popping up to throw on that 2-2 pitch
  13. I wanted an unstoppable mega dynasty and you guys are satisfied with .580 baseball so it’s actually u guys who are engaging in loser talk
  14. I like Carter too but I think his ceiling is rich man's Taj Gibson. boom or bust uber alles
  15. holy horsefeathers billy is spry for 80
  16. It can be a lot, lot worse than what you've seen. the soft tyranny of low expectations
  17. You might have had me until your last sentence. Do you not enjoy good baseball games against divisional rivals? Ones that have had numerous walkoffs and late-inning rallies? Ones we're 11-8 in this year? are you seriously getting excited over an 11-8 divisional record
  18. did you see landon donovan on instagram? I did, and that Bocanegra and a few others gave him the business over it too. The 60 minutes of bunkering and gamesmanship plus a cameo from Marquez are an excellent example why I’d never pull for them to win a single game. mexico blew half a dozen golden counter attacks so it's not like it dragged the game into the mud
  19. I was on the fence and as soon as the game started wanted Mexico to win badly
